The nostalgic ryokan, nice room size with private in-room onsen. The balcony with beautiful view of the city and mountain (although the view was kinda blocked by a very tall tree). Fancy and tasty meals. Location is kind of far from the train station and main attractions, not recommand if you don't drive. Although it listed offering a shuttle service and luggage storage, but in reality, shuttle service is very limited, and you literary can not leave your luggage behind if you rely on them to drop you off back to the train station. We stayed at two different ryokans in Yufuin this time, and the other one appeared to have the same issue, so I guess that's how the ryokans in Yufuin are. The front entrance door is unlocked even at the night, and there seemed no staff on duty, that made us felt a bit of unsecure. Staffs were a bit difficult to communicate and inflexible.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Provided plenty of supplies, towels, two pillows, robes, slippers, etc. lovely to have a small patio and opening for Mt. Yushu view. Hot spring fed tub was clean and decent size. Nice to control temperature with cold water tap. Food was incredible! So many options each day, we stayed 3 nights and they always provided new variety. Staff was friendly and shuttle schedule was helpful back and forth to downtown. It is a ways out of town which provides the great view but definitely a long walk. It is close to a busy road with fast and larger truck traffic. Road noise took away some of the pleasure from the patio. While very comfortable, it has no ambience. Seems to cater to bus groups during the day which we never saw since we were out each day. Looks like a new hotel is being built on Mt. Yufu side, new fence and construction site.

So quiet Far away from city centre

Wonderful and helpful staff! I left behind an item in the restaurant at dinner and they were able to retrieve it even after I checked out of the property. Clean room and great amenities. Food was delicious and accommodating with a vegetarian meal request. Would stay here again if given the opportunity. Location can be far if traveling without a car.

Onsen in the room. Meals included. We have the chance to taste Japanese style dinner and breakfast. We booked one room in main building. Room size is on the small size. A bit old as well. Next door is under construction so no view from our room.

The room had a private onsen, and one whole wall opened up toward Mt. Yufu, so soaking in the hot spring while looking out at the mountains all by myself was just amazing. The staff, the food, even the parking — everything was great. It was about a 20-minute walk to Lake Kinrin, but the walk itself was along a quiet Japanese countryside road, which made it even more beautiful and peaceful. If you’re in a rush or relying only on walking, the location might feel a bit inconvenient. But honestly, I actually loved that it was a 20-minute walk to the lake. Since I was traveling alone, they even gave me a discount on the room, which was such a sweet surprise. I highly recommend this place. The next day I stayed at a more upscale ryokan in Beppu, but this one is the one that really stayed with me. Nothing at all

Love the room arrangement with private onsen. All arrangements were just perfect. Shuttle bus on time and arrive hotel quick. Dinner is so abundant and delicious. Staff were courteous and attentive. Not a big hotel but that's what i enjoy the relaxing atmosphere there, 24 hrs hot water/tea/cofee station is definitely a plus. Views around is sooooo beautiful. Sadly the day we arrived was rainy so the balcony chairs were all wet that we cannot use it at night when the rain stopped.
-
private onsen, meal & shuttle bus 2 beds in the room does not make sense for a couple. Also the construction outside our room was unexpected.
-
If you do not have you own transportation, it may difficult to reach and go to sight seeing place.
-
The biggest issue we have is that there is construction just outside our private bath. this prevent us from enjoying the Yufusan view from the room. I will be great if staff can explain a little more about how to wear the yukata and the right slippers to use.

The Ryokan was located uphill outside of the tourist area of Yufuin. We had a room with private onsen connected to our balcony. The view from the balcony was awesome. The onsen, toilette, etc. area was as large as the bedroom area. We used taxi from Yufuin station to Ryokan. In the morning the Ryokan offered free shuttle to Yufuin station. The breakfast and dinner were excellent. Softdrinks and coffee was freely available in the lobby. Lake Kinrin and Yufuin tourist area was 20-30 min walking - return included steep uphill just before the Ryokan. To our surprise the Yufuin tourist main street was very crowded. Positive side was that with so many customers there is uncountable number of shops and eating places. Limited Express trains were fully booked. Luckily we had our arrival train booked one week before. For leaving we used local train as limited express train were nearly full booked for the full day

The view supposes to be the best around here as it’s in front of the mountains. However, there is a construction work undergoing in front of the hotel which blocks the view, so you feel not private, and also noisy. CHOOSE CITY SIDE, or go other time like in 1year.

The staff were very kind and accommodating when it came to helping us out. And the meals were absolutely delicious. The rooms were a little small and with only a few outlets.
-
The kaiseki dinner and breakfast was absolutely amazing! The wagyu beef was so good! That was truly the highlight of our stay. The room was cramp and there was mold on the ceiling/walls at the toilet area which I believe was caused by the private onsen connected to the room toilet.

It's so beautiful and quiet. The staff are punctual in time. Food is nice. Everything so nicely organised. Nothing. Just a bit far from town. But we did a 30min walk to lake kinrin from the hotel at 5 am in the morning to see the fog floating on the lake surface.
-
The private onsen room that we used was good. The building is not the normal ryokan. However the dinner and breakfast were delicious especially the beef. NA
