Yufuin Baien Garden Resort

I love it all! We stayed at the family room with our own private bath. We love walking around from the hotel to the walking street. The staff are very kind to accommodate our food preferences and allergies. There are no photos or clear descriptions/ reviews whether we will have the shower indoor or outdoor, as the room is named open-air bath and semi open-air bath, so we are not sure about the shower as it was cold.

the environment is very nice and good for relaxation the room was too cold. the training staff were very inexperience and always forgetful. the personal onsen area is very old and doesn't have enough towels and personal utility supplies, which was very disappointed.

Great location ! Also the room size is fairly large and comfortable. The pillows were a little hard . Also the onsen is decent but a little smaller than what I expected. Also would be better if they gave larger towels in the onsen.

Friendly staff, free drinks, excellent dinner and breakfast Location. Not convenient to get to without a rental vehicle. The water temperature at the large outdoor onsen was not warm enough for me.

Nothing. The course meals are great but it is too much for the third day. I am too full and want different styles.

Amazing. The sunset view on a good day is truly an amazing one. I managed to get a seat for dinner facing the sunset and wow, the sunset and the dinner is one that i will never forget. The private bath that i book was big enough and the public bath was also very impressive. I’m very happy i managed to book this place. The lounge time after dinner where they serve soft drinks is a good time to relax before and after bathing time. The walk from the station is a tad bit far, but it’s ok, only around 20-25 minutes.

Group onsen holiday experience. The hotel was lovely and quiet. Dinner and breakfast that was served was great, along with the open bar offered for the guests later in the evening. The tatamis were extremely comfortable but the duvet was a bit too thick. The onsen was nice and relaxing with both an outside and inside portion. Family onsens are also available but they were always in use, so we never got a chance to use it.

Family bath is always occupied, better to have a reservation. Meal service need to be improve, need to remove dirty dish before serving next dish.

The front desk and lobby gate are too low profile, I hardly can’t find them.

Unique osen experience Some miscomm (Google translation over messages) over the sleeping configuration over the 3 rooms that I have booked, resulting in different setup and meal arrangements. Staff was helpful in trying to rectify.

The ryokan rooms were decent size; be aware that there is NO shower amenities in the room! You will have to go to the public/private onsens to shower/bath. The highlight of this facility is the night self-served bar that runs for a few hours after dinner. Portions of the dinner were reasonable and delicious. The location of this facility was not only out of the way but can be actually confusing to find. I thought I arrived at the hotel when parked on the bottom of the hill, but I was redirected to drive up the hill in hidden driveway to reach destination. Some parts of the building looked like it was recently renovated. I felt the customer service was okay compared to my other stays in other hotels in Japan. There seems to be more international students hired for this location, nothing wrong with that, but just a note. Service can be slow at times; some spoke minimal English (and even minimal Japanese). There is a few "first-come, first-serve" private onsens you can use; no resos! Best time we went was right in the early morning and the onsen was pretty big too. The public ones aren't bad as well - pretty big and clean.

The hot spring and the free drinking bar is good. The quality of the breakfast is good but it can be better for this charge.

Very calm surrounds of the property. It was a bit of a distance to walk to the stations and other points of interests though. Definitely need a taxi if you are coming from the station with luggages. The kaiseki dinner was pretty good. There is 2 private onsen which was really nice as it allows you to enter with your family privately. However, there's not really a reservation system, so you have to be lucky, or wait and try to queue for the it in the cold.

This property is widely spread out and the Onsen offer both public indoor and outdoor pool. The outdoor pool is big and offer a relaxing natural environment. There is also two private outdoor pools on a first come first serve basis. However, there isn’t any towels available in the private pools. The room and the men’s public pool is not equipped with lotions or moisturizer. Just basic shampoo & conditioner, and body liquid wash. Other Onsen usually provides toner and face moisturizer as well at this price range.
