The staff makes you feel at home. The hill!

Loved the location! The rooms were great.... Could not get a room for my mom on the first floor and she had knee issues and the personnel at the check in was not that friendly at out arrival.

If I would improve anything it would be to add small fridge in the rooms, a ceiling fan and "black out" curtains. Also, didn't care for the fact you couldn't get an extra towel for the pool - one per guest, would have liked to check out 2 and return 2.

This is a 3 star hotel but is kept very well by the owner and staff. Very clean. Excellent staff. Restaurant and pool are very good.

The airconditioner was difficult to handle.

We had a room on the 5th floor and the balcony was lovely in the morning until noon before the sun hit. We didn't have any issues during our stay.

Location was very good; air conditioning was very efficient; room was spacious; view was very nice. Bathroom was fairly spacious and well designed. Bathroom door did not reach to the top of the door frame but this was not too much of a problem. Our whole stay was coloured by the sullen and unfriendly receptionists. I certainly wouldn't employ them. No kettle or fridge in the room. The safe was opened by a key which we had to pay a deposit of 1000 pesos. The safe was antiquated and a 15 inch laptop wouldn't fit in to it. A lot of steps with no railings which would be dangerous for some people. The toilet was also antiquated and becomes faulty very easily. However when we reported it, a man came to fix it within 10 minutes. You can get a local taxi to the airport for approximately half the price of the taxi cartel which operates outside the hotel. We arranged for a local taxi to pick us up and take us to the airport for 250 pesos. He was obviously "hijacked" by the taxi cartel and the taxi which picked us up said the booked taxi couldn't do the job and had asked them to take us instead. We arrived at the airport and the replacement driver demanded 450 pesos. We refused but it was very difficult.

Steps Also need for umbrellas which tilt by the pool

Good location, nice swimming pool, pretty good restaurant. The staff spoke almost no English. Our room was up 6 long flights of stairs. No refrigerator in room. We were told that breakfast was included in our fee, but they tried to charge us at the end. We finally had to compromise.

my only real complaint: the room key didn't work so i wasn't able to lock door from outside ( an internal latch let me lock door when i was inside room). i asked to be moved and wasn't, so never felt safe leaving my things unattended. other than this all was good.

The umbrellas could have been tilted. As they were they provided no shade once the sun moved into the south

Restaurant on site Too many stairs! We were on the 5th floor..I would get a lower floor room.

Pros: staff reasonably pleasant, some English speaking, some not, but it’s their country! Lovely view from high on the cliff. Pool also up high. The room was clean. Cons: Reservation through Booking.com did not include breakfast. We paid $175 US. Room had three small shelves but no closet which was ok for us as our stay was only one night. At 5 pm the water in the shower was scalding hot immediately and no cold water. We couldn’t turn off the killer hot water and had to get help. They came promptly. The “cold” water started hot but eventually was tepid. The toilet wouldn’t flush because the flapper was disconnected, requiring us to remove the back of the toilet every time. After two requests they fixed it the next morning. Playa La Madera is a steep descent down and not nearly as nice as nearby Playa la Ropa.
