We booked this very last minute at 6pm in the eve same day. We had a very large room with bed area/ seating area/ kitchenette (fridge/sink/stove top/plates etc provided) /bathroom and very large terrace/balcony with an airer and outdoor table and chairs. The hotel is 2/3 star rating and perfectly suitable. The shower was large with a shower curtain which having had a glass screen explode in our last accomodation we were very grateful for. Breakfast was plentiful with all the usual foods that you get in Greece. Despite being approx 100 guest hotel there was sufficient seating for breakfast and plenty of food. Also we were always able to get a sun lounger by the pool. Nobody claimed them and left towels on them all day without being there. The pool was very nice and just a few steps down to the beach. Great location minutes from plenty of choice of restaurants/bakeries/ shops /supermarkets. Reception staff were lovely . They ordered our taxi for us for mid afternoon and had a luggage room to keep suitcases Possibly because it is the end of the season there were lots of signs of wear and tear in the room which one would hope would get addressed during the winter season. washing up liquid/sponge /t towel were not provided one needed to ask (we didn't know this) At reception it says there is a charge for A/C - possibly this applies if booked direct as we were not charged. Also it mentions a charge of Euro 50 to keep the room from 12-6pm on check out day - again we didn't ask if it was stuck to.

The premices are kept exceptionally clean, the pool is fantastic and the poolside room in the front was great, decorated nicely, has a recently upgraded bathroom and a silent air condition unit. The mattresses are soft-to-medium and provide a wonderful night's sleep and comfort. The staff is very polite and can help you out with whatever you are after. Overall, a highly recommend hotel in the area of Agia Marina for a relaxed summer vacation.

The location was excellent. Close to the beach and shops and restaurants. Beautifully kept gardens. The rooms were kept very clean and the staff on the reception desk were very friendly , efficient and knowledgable. The breakfast could have had a better selection. Became very repetative. It would have been nice to have a bowl of honey and fresh fruit to go with the yoghurt. The beds were large but the mattresses were very hard.

Marina Sands is a very cozy and pleasant 2 star hotel. The hotel is 60 meters from the beach and between the rooms and the beach is the pool with a restaurant that serves both cold and hot dishes as well as snacks and beer/drinks. The rooms are designed in an older standard, my bathroom had, for example, a bathtub and a shower curtain which you cannot normally count on in Crete. The furniture in the room are an older type but functional. modern television. My hotel booking included AC and a safe. So when you book, check if AC is included or not, otherwise the cost will be added.if your want to have a AC. The breakfast consists of a few types of bread. different marmalades. 2 different Mortladella sausages and cheese. Tomato and cucumber..Boiled egg. Greek Yoghurt with honey or with preserved fruit. Melon. Coffee/Tea and 3 juices. The hotel area consists of 2-storey buildings with narrow corridors with well-kept beautiful vegetation Lot of the hotel guests are coming back year after year.so it also means that the hotel delivers much quality to be a 2 star hotel. But in my eyes it is at least a 3 star hotel. I will be back Unfortunately a bit noisy between the rooms.

Great pool in front of the beach, beautiful colorful houses and lovely flowers around! The sunset was amazing and easy access to the beach. The rooms was spacious and came with its own balconie and had air conditioning. The rooms was a bit outdated in decor but this was not a big issue for me as I spent most time outside.

Basic apartment but met all our needs, very relaxing atmosphere , perfect location , two steps one way-supermarket with everything you need, two steps the other way-beach and the sea with the warmest and cleanest water I have seen in Europe. Clean beach , no plastic floating around you . Simple but tasty breakfast. Recommend the place if you want to switch off from-your everyday problems and relax. Nothing

We liked the location as its right on the beach and close to everything you need including groceries, rental cars and shopping. It is walking distance to the city centre of Platanias. The pool area is nice and clean and has drinks and snacks served to you when ever you want. The grounds in general are pretty. The staff is friendly and helpful. Their english is excellent which I was grateful for as my Greek is horrible. We learned that there’s a shortage of staff like everywhere else in the world and these beautiful Greek people see millions of travellers in the span of a few months so they are doing their best and that’s impressive. They also have breakfast, although very basic, it was available between 8 and 10. The room has a balcony and ocean and pool view. Very basic like a dorm room. No luxury at all. The actual room you sleep in needs a lot of updating. The most important part, the bed and bathroom, are the worst. The beds are single size (common) and you sleep on a box spring. You can actually feel the coils. It was actually crippling to me as I have back issues. What they fail to tell you is that you can ask for a mattress topper which resembles a lounge chair cushion. I only found this out 2 days before we left. It was only slightly better. This is so unacceptable and we would not stay here again due to this fact alone at any price. The bathroom is very basic as well. Tub is super small and has 2 levels making it dangerous especially when you close your eyes to rinse off. The pool is nice but not enough lounge chairs. the dozen or so they have get claimed by the guests who have ground floor rooms and who get up at 7am to put their towels on them. Then they keep their towels on them all day even when they aren’t using them. The loungers on the beach are 7 euros a pair and are not included in your room fee. We travelled during low season so I can only imagine how hectic and unavailable any loungers including the beach ones are during high season. There’s no elevator so if you have any physical restrictions this can be difficult especially with luggage.
