El Mirador de Rivas

Incredible value for money. It's the cheapest stay during our trip. Yet it was the cleanest, was beautiful and had delicious breakfast. My partner said that the way the bed sheets were chosen made her feel like home. I think the only annoyance we had was not from the hosts but from that GPS map features have a hard time with the train roads nearby to the location, it routed us to non-existing train crossings multiple times until we learned to not trust it.

An excellent small hotel with friendly hosts. The place was easy to find and there are plenty of spaces to park. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good. In the morning they started to spread shit on the nearby field, so the smell during the breakfast wasn't exactly pleasing

A warm welcome at a delightful rural location. A country house with rustic charm (beams & stones) and idyllic views over green farmland hills and cattle grazing. A tranquil location even if Santander (a mere 20 mins drive away) city buildings are just about visible on the far horizon. Pleasant, well-cared for garden with lovely flower pots. We thought this would be just perfect for a last night stop-over: some peace, quiet and tranquility before catching the ferry after a sleepless night and a long tiring cross-country drive to get here... A cozy room, no frills but comfortable and super-clean with ensuite facilites. A most delicious home-made breakfast. Juan and his mother are the dream-team. We would have whole-heartedly given this stay 10/10 . . . apart from a small hiccup ... We were rather disappointed that one hour after our arrival (mid-afternoon on a Sunday) having just settled in and looking forward to a much-needed siesta rest ... our host decided to leap onto his motorised grass-cutting mini-tractor and proceeded to meticulously and noisily cut the patch of lawn immediately under our window! Considering we had told our host @ check-in how tired we were and looking forward to some tranquility after the madness of the motorway traffic to get here, this was rather thoughtless. And on a Sunday afternoon, too?! Clearly, Juan was motivated by his desire to have the place looking nice for guests. And yes, we do understand that these jobs need doing... but for sure, such a noisy task is best left to a time of day / week when there are no guests. We just wouldn't dream of cutting our own lawns at home on a Sunday and disturb our neighbours' rest day. In spite of this, we would not hesitate to return at another time and for sure, even stay a little longer to enjoy the area.

stunning Place 15 mins from Santander but could have been a million miles! Beautiful. great breakfast (no evening meals) getting back on the ferry to come back to the UK

Very beautiful location, extremely quiet and a wonderful escape. Hosts are very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was cheese, ham, bread, jams, cake, fruit, juice and coffee - sets you up for the day. Would highly recommend. Nothing we can think of

Breathtaking rural location within striking distance of the city. Gave a real sense of getting away from it all. What really makes this place special is the host, Juan, and his lovely mother, who make you feel part of their family. There are just 7 bedrooms in this former farm-house. They provide comfortable bed and optional breakfast, which is ample and excellent quality. They provided everything we needed and nothing we didn't want. Bedrooms are compact, but more than adequate and there's a lounge and lots of outdoor space available for relaxing. You do need a car if you want to get about, and they don't cater for lunches or evening meals. This was fine for us, as we planned to go out and about and eat in various places.

The building is in the countryside surrounded by farms and is quiet and tranquil. The hosts were very accommodating and we enjoyed our stay. The views of the hills all around made it a peaceful stay Unfortunately being in a farming area, there were a lot of flies in our room. We would suggest that flyscreens be installed for this reason

Staff was very nice, breakfast was delicious and the scenery was peaceful.

We received a warm welcome by the host upon our arrival. The rooms are very clean and the environment is very pretty. The hosts are very attentive and generous. The breakfast is abundant.

This is a place in heaven! Beautiful, calm, positioned in the green hills near Santander, this is heaven on earth. The super friendly hosts, Juan and his mother are the kindest people in the world and do everything to make you feel good. The views are sensational. I will go back.

I booked very late & the owners were happy to see me even though I was a soaking wet cyclist! Took my bike into their dining room for security without me asking & were beyond kind.
