DoubleTree by Hilton Akron Fairlawn

The staff encountered were very friendly and listened to concerns we had during our stay. They truly were the only positive moment to the experience at this hotel. This hotel is dated. Upon entering the smell of heavy pool chlorine and carpet must hit me hard. We ended up having to change rooms as the first room had a leaking shower. I almost fell and busted my head on the toilet because water was pouring from under the shower door track onto the tile. Staff more than willingly switched us to another room. The 2nd room had barely enough working lighting in the bathroom to see. The mini fridge wasn't operational. And throughout the entire facility there was a lingering smell of musty carpet. The entire hotel needed a good scrubbing. Bathroom tiles had soap scum build up. Carpets and cloth furniture were visibly stained. Thick dust on furnishings that weren't surface top level. The outdoor pool was filthy. The outdoor area was cluttered with beer bottles and trash. I specifically booked this property for the outdoor amenities. They did not at all compare to the pictures provided. For the price per night here, the standards of cleanliness and property maintenance did not align.

Everything was excellent

It has a lounge/restaurant on site- outdoor pool No room service as advertised - pool was dirty - toilet overflowed and it was not cleaned properly after nor were towels replaced. I asked for fresh towels to be brought to me and it took over 12 hours and I had to ask 3 more times. I told them I had mobility issues and would appreciate them being brought to me as soon as was convenient for them. The free breakfast was buffet only and no option to order from a menu as advertised. The buffet was poorly monitored until the weekend when a bridal party was there. Also - my room was supposed to have a tub - it did not and there were no options to switch and so i asked for a shower chair which arrived 6 hours later but before the towels. The smoking area was welcome but nobody cleaned the area. The same beer bottle that was there when I arrived was there when Ieft 5 days later

The hotel has a strong odor of chlorine which we thought initially was because of the pool, but as we were walking the hallways we could tell it was mixed with a strong musty smell. We were on the 4th floor and we couldn’t smell it there. On our 3rd night we noticed lots of mold (that was black) near our window in our room. We were leaving the next day and my husband asked for tape to contain it. They brought painters tape. I showed pictures of it to the front desk and she seemed shocked but did nothing to compensate us. It was disappointing.

Easy drive to Blossom Music Center

Shower drain was clogged for my employee who just got done driving for 7 hours. Didn't want to bother staff at that time of night so he stood in 2 inches of backed up water. Nasty!

My toilet ran all night so a good night sleep was not had, I was up all night. To have a suite and not sleep wall was disappointing. I did tell staff as I checked out but they didn’t see to accommodate or make things right but what could they do? The outside pool was not clean at all, my kids wouldn’t even step into it. It was green and you could tell hasn’t been cleaned for days or maybe for the season. The hotel itself was great but wish for the money it was what we paid for as a whole.

My room was very comfortable. The location was perfect for me.

The location was perfect. I needed a late checkout and they were very accommodating. We ate lunch at the restaurant and it was delicious. The menu had many tasty options, it was hard to decide. As usual, the cookie was perfect!

Staff was so accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay feel like home. We ran into a food delivery issue with the local Papa John’s (never order pizza from there!) and because of the PJ issue the front desk attendant went out of his way to help.

They were welcoming .pool area could of been a bit more cleaner.
