A very nice hotel

Hotel was very nice and well maintained. Unfortunately the morning we were trying to get breakfast the cook had called out! The waitresses were trying to do both but only got frustrated and made for a tense situation.

Clean room convenient location. EV charger available

The location was excellent was extremely convenient for reaching nearby destinations. The stay was generally pleasant and the facilities were well-maintained, but it was disappointing that breakfast was not included in the room rate. Aside from this, the overall experience was adequate and met my basic requirements for a short trip.

I stayed at this hotel mainly due to its location as I was taking the bar exam at the empire state plaza. It is only a 7 minute ride from there. The hotel itself is clean, beds are comfortable, relatively quiet except not entirely sound proof as you can hear movement in the corridors and the bathroom if you are staying with someone else. The general manager Shacquel Hytmiah is very helpful and kind. They had a meeting room open for bar students to study which was nice. The morning of the exam, the kitchen was backed up since many people were calling in from their rooms to place their orders. Although the staff were doing the best they could, it would have been better if they got backup staff for these 2 days in anticipation of the exam. The amenities are good: gym, swimming pool, free coffee and tea, wifi, and good room service. After 30 hours of travel, upon arriving at the hotel, we were met with ALEX at the front desk for check in. He informed us that, although we had a double queen bed room booked, only a king bed room was available - even though we’d be paying for the bigger room. After putting my card on file, i got a deduction of the booking in addition to ~25% extra. I asked about the extra charge, he said “you should know the rates”. I showed him the booking with the original price, with no avail. To add insult to injury, he claimed that no payment had gone through. I showed him the bank deduction notification and my bank app. He did not believe me. We slept the night in the king bed room. In the morning, Shacquel (the manager) apologized for the inconvenience, transferred us to a double queen room, and informed us that the money was, in fact, deducted. He explained that the additional 25% was a deposit in case we put anything on the room. We should have been informed of this prior to the deduction. In any case, a deposit such as this should be by way of bank authentication, not an actual deduction. This is especially important since we reside outside the US and are paying with a foreign card, so we would lose out on the transfer rate twice, upon deduction and upon return. Alex was rude, unprofessional, kept repeating information that was not true, and generally super unhelpful, even at check out. We should be getting a discount on the first night when we stayed in the king bed room. Also, I could smell marijuana. I would hope they enforce the no smoking policy more strictly.

All good
