Scenery River Star Hotel

Peaceful, beautiful location. Delicious breakfasts served on the floating boat. Sunrise kayak. Easy walk to the village and beach nearby.

Facilities were good & the staff were amazing. Also, the breakfast was very good. Wifi was weak.

The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very well-maintained, which made the stay even more enjoyable. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming — they make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. I highly recommend this place, especially the morning kayak experience. Starting the day on the lake is something special and unforgettable. Definitely worth visiting.

We had a lovely stay here. It is a really quiet spot away from the main town next to the lagoon. About at 10min walk along a quiet road to get to the beach. Breakfast each morning was delicious and different. Amazing omelette! We had a family room that was clean and the air con worked well - if a little noisy. We hired kayaks for the 4 of us for 4000rupees (about £12) which we thought was a very fair price and had a lovely paddle around the lagoon.

Our stay at this hotel was simply magical! The hotel is nestled right next to a breathtakingly beautiful and serene lake, offering peaceful views and a truly relaxing atmosphere. Waking up to the gentle sound of nature and the shimmering water was an unforgettable experience. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding—freshly baked pastries, a variety of tropical fruits, rich and aromatic coffee, and a selection of delicious local specialties. Every morning felt like a luxurious feast, setting the perfect tone for the day. One of the best parts of this hotel was its location. A short, pleasant walk led us straight to the ocean’s pristine beach. The golden sand was incredibly soft and clean, and the crystal-clear water made it an ideal spot for relaxation and swimming. The combination of the peaceful lake and the stunning ocean beach made this a dream destination.

This was our 16th place to stay in Sri Lanka. It has to be the most peaceful, relaxing and chilled out of all. Lovely clean, spacious room, with a small seating area which we loved the views onto the lake. The staff were exceptional! We also hired their kayaks and went for a trip on the serene lake. We’ll remember this place and would definitely return.

I initially planned to stay for just one or two nights, but I ended up staying for over eight days! This place is perfect for relaxation—peaceful, quiet, and surrounded by nature. I highly recommend taking the kayaks out and watching the sunrise from the middle of the lagoon—an unforgettable experience. On top of that, the host was incredibly kind and attentive, taking care of every little detail. The breakfasts were delicious and made the stay even more enjoyable. My room was spotless and super comfortable—I’d love to come back. Definitely recommend!

This place is just Simple amazing , if you are looking for a quiet place far from all the Crowd this is a right place. Lake view, sounds od the nature all day , green scenery around, very comfortable bed, clean room , breakfast next to the lake......all you need for your rest.

Everything was amazing, I loved the quiet place by the lake with a gorgeous view. The room was really comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast is delicious and the team really lovely. It's a little bit out of the city but was perfect for me as I wanted something quiet & peaceful but still close to town

We loved it here! All we could ever ask for - by the lake, peaceful, just lovely. The room was big and very spacious, the bathroom was great and the shower was hot, the kitchen well equipped with a little hob, rice cooker and fridge, the bed was so comfy too, there are outdoor seats to look across the lake and the breakfast was absolutely delicious - different each day and served by the sweet and smiley owner and her husband. They have scooter hire too (if you're brave enough to ride on the Sri Lankan roads)! We liked everything
