Best Western Plus Altoona Inn

The hotel was very quiet considering it was right next to an amusement park. It was clean and comfortable. I dislike that they put a $200 dollar hold on my card when I paid ahead from the room. Then it tied up my money I couldn't use for our trip. It would be nice if they put that disclosure in their paper work when you reserve the room. If they did I did not see it. Here it is 3 days later and the money still has not been returned to my card. Very disappointing to folks that scrimp and save for a little night away.

Stains all over the furniture in the room. Carpet was very old and gross. Smelled bad throughout the entire building and room.

Location was convenient. Parking was safe and plentiful. Our room was clean and as advertised. The breakfast was hot and tasty with a good variety of food choices.

The pool room had a horrible smell. The floors were dirty and the AC did not work on the hallways.

The management and staff are exceptional! The breakfast was amazing. Excellent variety. The room was clean and decently put together. Pool water temp was perfect. The pullout mattress looked nice, but it was absurdly uncomfortable. Each of us tried to lay on it and every coil could be felt...almost as if it was fabric alone pulled over metal springs. I let them sleep on the king and I used the couch cushions over the pull out, with a top sheet to create a barrier. I am 6'0 so it was still not great. Made due. Lesson for next time taking two comforters to fold over to create comfort. Not sure if the water heater was turned up super high (hot water appreciated) but it was like someone turned off the cold water. So showering was tricky and no cold from any faucets. Scalding hot. My sons did not use the shower. Too hot of water. Otherwise all else was decent. Happy that the staff was exceptional.

The room was not clean. Empty pop bottles from previous guests navy yo the wall. The bath room had all kinds of long hair in the tub on the counter and floor.

The location was nice due to where our family outing was. I reserved a room with a pull out couch and we did not get that. The tub drain had a big wad of hair in it. We were completely out of boby wash. When we asked 3 different cleaning ladies non of them could find it on the 1st floor and said it was probably on the second floor and noone offered to go get it for us. We did not get body wash. Breakfast was very busy and all the food had run out and hour and 30 mins before the breakfast time was up.

The room was nice and clean. The breakfast was good, the only disappointment was the juice dispenser was defective, and all the juices were room temp.

King suite was a joke. Dirty carpet. Jacuzzi didnt work properly. Shower was horrible with inconsistent temperature. Bed lighting flickered. Breakfast was out of utensils and half of the food. Pools smaller than expected. Staff is friendly. Parking is nice with tags so only people staying there are allowed overnight. Its right across from Adventure Land so thats convenient. After they charge you the nightly rate, they tack on an additional $200 for damages even though the rooms are so poorly maintained im not sure how they can tell what was already in rough shape and what has newly been damaged....

Seemed a bit under staffed and took a while to check in and check out. Our shampoo and body wash dispensers were completely out in the shower so we used what we brought. The hair dryer is not in a bag and hangs on the bathroom door handle. Staff nice and very clean facility. Only one washer and one dryer but work well. Quiet and feels safe. Would stay here again.
