My Place Hotel - Altoona/Des Moines, IA

After staying there for 2 nights, discovered a bed bug and left immediately. The staff was accommodating. Manager was contacted. Was told I needed to get in contact with Expedia to reverse my hotel charges. Manager OK the reversal upon Expedia contacting the hotel.

Don't come in here with high standards and you will have an okay stay. Some of the carpets in certain rooms and hallway smell damp. Bedding was clean and comfortable. Rooms could be updated.

Very much appreciated the early checkin because we got to the area much sooner than anticipated. Liked the kitchenette. Basic room with the bonus of a comfortable recliner. Was a good value for the money.

Clean, great location, and this is my go to hotel in Altoona.

The rooms didn’t look how they were advertised. The kitchen area was very old, not updated as shown in the photos, stove was very dirty, fridge had left over things from previous guests, microwave could’ve been cleaner. It definitely was not as clean as we hoped. The reason we chose this hotel was because of the kitchen in the room and we stayed 3 nights and only used the fridge to store stuff because we felt everything else was unsanitary to use None of the drawers closed, you would push them in but they would pop back out. What really was bad was the shower head. It was filthy with rust and almost looked like mold to me. Also the shampoo and conditioner bottles in the shower had little mold on the pumps.. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The restaurants were within walking distance or short drive. The movie theater was across the street. Everything you needed was close. It was a very nice stay.

We didn’t notice the sign about making ice and there is no ice machine on the property. Probably a good idea to tell guests that at the front desk. Fine for a night on our way to Wisconsin.

My room was clean and quiet. The air conditioner worked great on a hot day. The staff were very nice, quick and efficient. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. The fridge wasn’t working in our room and the drawers in the kitchen kept opening by themselves. :) Everything else was great! We would definitely stay here again.

Highly recommend this hotel. Clean rooms. Helpful staff. I was very impressed all the way around and I rarely fill out reviews. I felt this one was worthy.

Upon entry into the building, it smelled amazing! That is always a plus in my book. When we got to the desk, Shanda was amazing helping us get our rooms situated. She was so polite and easy to talk to. We get to our room and it was amazing as well. A full fridge. A stove top as well as alot of cabinet space. The beds were amazingly comfortable. It felt like I was in a cloud the 3 nights we were there. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

I stayed at this hotel for its proximity to Prairie Meadows racetrack. The staff in the hotel were extremely friendly & helpful, there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The room was spotless and the bed was very very comfortable. I was here for 3 days & and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
