My concern is no longer the charge itself. It is the manner in which the matter was handled and the assumptions that were made without providing me with any objective evidence… Unfortunately, the service quality fell well below the standards I expected from an Autograph Collection hotel. Breakfast repeatedly arrived incomplete, courtyard service was slow and inattentive, and check-out was unnecessarily lengthy due to poor communication. The room presented at check-in did not match the impression created by the Booking.com photos. Most disappointing, however, was being charged €300 for an alleged smoking violation based on subjective findings after my departure, despite no objective evidence being presented. Although I paid the charge to avoid further dispute, I do not agree with the way the matter was handled.

Review: The College Hotel, Amsterdam Our stay at The College Hotel was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. The staff were incredibly polite, all fluent in English, and had a wonderful balance of professionalism and warmth—they never took themselves too seriously and made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The rooms were simply stunning. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, and the bathrooms were beautifully designed, adding a real touch of luxury to the experience. We also chose to include breakfast, which turned out to be an excellent decision. The food was truly 5-star quality, and we were allowed to order anything from the menu each morning—from a full English breakfast to yogurt bowls and continental options. Everything was delicious. The location was perfect for our trip. We attended Metstrade at the RAI Exhibition Centre, and the hotel sat at an ideal midpoint between central Amsterdam and the exhibition venue—extremely convenient without compromising on atmosphere or charm. Overall, the entire experience was amazing, and I would stay at The College Hotel again in a heartbeat. Highly recommended. Nothing!!!

Very nice hotel, spotless. Bed is comfortable, room is huge and the bathroom too. Definitely “oversized” for Amsterdam! Nothing, but would have been nice to have a Spa with sauna or hot tub

Had an amazing stay at The College Hotel for a quick city break. I loved how the concept of the hotel, being an old boys‘ school, stayed so true to its history with the decor in such an elegant yet cheeky way. We were made so welcome by Vasia and Peter, who started our stay off on such a high note right from the moment we walked through the door, great hospitality.

Breakfast was great and the location was exactly where we wanted to be, namely close to the Van Gogh museum and the tram lines. Your staff are excellent and went out of their way to make us feel at home. We were contacted by your staff regarding an item of luggage which we left in the taxi on the way to the train station and kindly returned to your hotel by the driver. This item was forwarded on to our next location without any problem by your excellent staff.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely relaxed feeling. Would be nice to have a slightly more comfortable bar area.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful restored old school building. Staff was very friendly and service-oriented. Breakfast was marvellous, wished I could eat more than I could...Location just outside the very busy center of Amsterdam with all the public transport nearby. Near all the museums and concertgebouw. We asked for a room not near the elevator: our room was next to the elevator. We got another room, which was again next to another elevator. We gave up, luckily the hotel was quiet at the moment we stayed. The room was very comfortable, but a bit 'clean'.

The hospitality was fantastic, from the people at reception, to the restaurant and the door man, everybody was super friendly and helpful. Special mention for Femke en Peter. The location is great, close to everything, lots of places to eat and things to do nearby. The hotel was comfortable, clean and gave us a feeling of calm. Nothing

Absolutely stunning hotel with the most lovely staff. Location of the hotel was great and super easy go get around. Our bedroom had an interconnecting door to another room. This wasn’t an issue as it was locked until next door came back about 2am in the morning and kept us awake for an hour. The following day we realised you could hear everything through the door, we could hear every single conversation word for word through the door from our own bed. This hotel was a real treat to what we’d normally book and was a surprise for my husbands 30th birthday, I do find it ludicrous that I spent so much money for lack of privacy and broken sleep? We had mentioned it to reception and they just gave us ear plugs. I absolutely loved the hotel and we were both super excited about it, we just both felt this tainted the experience. I didn’t feel paying for a 5 star hotel and being given earplugs should have been a solution.
