Pretty much everything Amsterdam is expensive and the Hoxton is no outlier

I recently stayed at The Hoxton in Amsterdam and overall had a pleasant experience. The hotel has a great ambiance, with stylish, well-thought-out decoration that gives it a quirky, vintage feel. The location is excellent and the staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout the stay. There are a few areas that could be improved. While the decor is charming, the furniture in the rooms feels quite old and of rather cheap quality, which takes away from the otherwise nice design. In addition, the cleanliness of the room could be better. Upon arrival, I had to request a change of bed linen because the sheets were stained. I also booked a room with a canal view, which I was looking forward to. Unfortunately, the windows were quite dirty and could not be opened. As a photographer who enjoys capturing photos during my travels, this was particularly disappointing since it made it difficult to fully enjoy and photograph the view. With some improvements to the furniture quality, room cleaning standards, and better maintenance of the windows, the overall experience could be much better.

The location was very nice The room was supposedly the biggest one they had, but it was in the attic, which made the ceiling super low and we barely have a view because the windows we’re small. This was kind of disappointing…(also looking at the price range) The breakfast isn’t a buffet, has some options though, yogurt and eggs. We had to pay for the water they served at breakfast, which was kind off weird in my opinion. Also no one of the staff spoke Dutch, which is ok but also would have preferred to just speak Dutch.

Friendly staff make a real difference. All were accommodating and gave excellant service The fact that we could not change our room due to a no change policy even though we’d ultimately be paying more for two rooms.

It was beautiful. The modern decor inside, the rooms, the bar and restaurant area, everything was amazing. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the location was perfect!
-
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, great location, loved the rain shower The bed was way to soft for our taste. We personally prefer more firm pillows and matras.
-
Room a bit dated. No place for hanging clothes. No drawers or shelves for clothes. Room on first floor in back. Was not told it’s next to service entrance for hotel/restaurant. Very noisy.
-
Trash on the street outside the hotel.

The room was very interesting with a canal view. Great location. We were able to walk to almost everything. Interesting vibe in the active lobby/lounge. Bar tenders very obliging. Had great breakfast service. One dinner - a brilliant hamburger. Staff were extremely helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. We missed things like bathrobes and other room amenities. Closet would be nice.

Extremely charming hotel- the “ cosy” room is perfect for one or two people . The glass ware in the rooms is crystal and they provide free water/ milk and juice in your room fridge! The bed is amazing I slept so well!! Excellent location to the trams and the city as a whole!

Amazing location and great atmosphere in the bar/lounge area. A bit more soundproofing on the rooms would go a long way
-
Beautiful, comfortable beds, great location and close to everything you would want to see. The staff was warm and friendly.

since wifi was public most of the time couldn’t use it. almost impossible to find a seat at the lobby since nowhere is reserved for hotel guests
-
Super welcoming and friendly staff! Great location with a cozy canal vibe. The first floor had a lovely restaurant and lobby hang out area and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The room was very comfortable, cozy and clean! We also appreciated the recommendations for things to check out while in town.

Location and staff Room was way too small and not sound proof house keeping is load but i was compensated which was nice Ac doesn’t work properly so they have to get you extra fan
-
Visited during the summer and the room was a little warm even after adjusting the thermostat settings
-
Room was small, very bad bed for price which was very expensive for what it was. Staff great. Breakfast just okay. Beds terrible.

The air conditioning in the room at full blast with no option to heat the room when it is already cold outside made my stay very uncomfortable. You don’t even have so much as a bag of peanuts or a bag of chips in the room. For almost €600 per night, you think you could have some snacks in the room? Maybe you could have a normal shower… with I don’t know… a door or a curtain… so that the entire bathroom doesn’t flood with water. My room wasn’t cleaned when I came back from working all day and had to take calls in the lobby/bar area while someone cleaned my room. Only to have your waitress kick me out of the lobby because lap tops aren’t allowed after 5PM. Your restaurant closes at 9PM. This is a hotel restaurant. What kind of hotel restaurant closes at 9PM: Get it together guys!! Worst hotel experience in a very long time.
