Hotel Angoulême Le Saint Gelais

Hotel le Saint Gelais was the perfect retreat in Angouleme. Very close to the main city area, but tucked into its own green oasis, and with air conditioning and parking on site - exactly what I was looking for!

A lovely hotel in a great setting, right in the middle of town. Large spacious room, lovely on-site restaurant and pool.

The carpets, whilst generally clean, could possibly do with a professional clean just to be perfect. Also, whilst my wife found the pillow perfect, it was too soft for me. I did have my own pillow in the car but too much effort to get dressed again to go out and get it.

Great hotel in a perfect location to explore Angouleme. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the accommodation really nicely done.

Beautiful building and setting .. easy to park .. comfortable large rooms. Only 10 minutes walk to the centre of town (it’s a hilly town so be warned!) Quiet and never heard any other guest despite being full. Could have stayed longer that night stopover. Great that dogs accommodated including in breakfast which was delicious. -

It was unexpected- a small bit of park/country in a busy town. Great restaurants - good breakfast and wonderful reception staff. I should have loved a bath!

The location, parking onsite and outside space were perfect. Breakfast was exceptional. Staff helpful and friendly. The crazy bathrooms as mentioned by previous guests. I understand they’ll be renovated.

Location is great, easy walk to town center. Pool was nice as well, extra points for conditioning which was very nice ( and also not common ) considering the extremely hot weather. Receptionist was very nice and patient ( I speak very little French ) and was accommodating. Nothing

Location, the garden for the dog, parking perfect and the hotel very nice. Nothing really.

Stylish hotel with nice garden and restaurant. Lighting in the bedroom was a little odd and shower sprayed onto room floor unavoidably as all in one room.

We had an exceptional room and there was parking Nothing

The bed was comfortable, the room clean and quiet. The area of town around the hotel looks neglected. The breakfast was overpriced. The extra charge for charging my electric car was very excessive.Although the design aspect of the hotel’s interior was striving to be chic it became idiosyncratic and eccentric. The extra charges made it a three star experience.
