Location good, relaxed vibe from staff Wifi weak at times

Cecil Hotel is a beautiful charming old building right in the heart of Monastiraki. I was surprised and pleased that my room had a few of the Acropolis! There were some stairs leading in, but the hotel staff helped me carry my giant suitcase and after that there was a very tiny ancient and adorable elevator that went to all floors. My room was perfect for my one night stopover in Athens, very clean with giant windows and a nice shower. The building was quiet and calm in a very busy and active neighborhood. I woke up extremely early the next day due to jet lag and walked around the quiet peaceful streets before the people started pouring in, it was great. Breakfast with standard continental fare, nice to have available but nothing really to speak of. I would definitely stay here again! The doorway is a little hard to find, it's just past the very bright and visible juice bar. Just look for the small doorway. This isn't really a negative point, just something to look out for.

Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly Rooms are small and not very clean. The bathroom has a small curtain that just leaks the water all over and it very very small.

They gave us a broken room - a bathroom with no shower, the floor went all wet after shower. The second night the bathroom got clogged and we are forced to change room, the staff admitted the room is broken (and yet they allocated the room to us)

Friendly staff. Clean room. Good location. Very small bathroom . When taking shower all of the bathroom floor is wet. Breakfast is very limited.

Location was great. Loved the smoothie place right outside the doors. Nice to have a breakfast even though it wasn’t extravagant. Location location :) The shower was small so couldn’t help but be touching the curtain.

Close to Monastiraki metro station. Incredibly noisy until late at night From all the outdoor and rooftop restaurants. Closing the exterior balcony door would have made the room very dark

Great location. Good price. Free decent breakfast. Bathroom was tiny. Shower inevitably spilled all over the floor every time.

Location was great and unfortunately, I could not have breakfast due to early checkout there was no view from the window

small bathroom in which you could not move, didn't have space for toiletries, didn't have hair dryer and the blanket was to thin, I was really cold during the night, and very noisy: people were talking on the hallways and it felt like they were in the room with us waking us up at very early hours.

I liked the old style lift in the middle of the stairs. The breakfast was limited. There was no hairdryer in the room but I asked for one at the reception and they were helpful.

The location is excellent, just a short walk from the metro station and Monastiraki Square. While the breakfast variety was simple, it was perfectly fine for my needs. The hotel is a bit old, but to me, that is part of its charm in this historic side of the city. Most importantly, the room was comfortable and clean. In the bathroom, I wasn't used to the open shower without a door or curtain. The floor does tend to get wet, but since there is a floor drain, it wasn't a big deal. I’m not sure if this is the case in all rooms, though. Also, it was a bit noisy late at night (like workers moving things or something like that), but it hardly bothered me (I always travel with earplugs just in case!).

The bathroom rug was unexpectedly soaked with water so I wet my socks when I walked in. It would be nice if the guests were given a fresh, dry rug. I won't complain on breakfast, it was OK for me but it's really basic so don't expect much. Room was pretty small, OK for me as I was alone but take in consideration if you need more space.

Very typical Greek Breakfast each morning. Nice to help start the day. Bed was firm (how I like it). Bathroom was small, but again, typical for other hotels I stayed in Greece. Really well placed hotel and great for the price! No issue with bugs or other things people have mentioned. Also to the woman who was mad about the cleaner "slamming plates" Return it to the wash bin yourself. It's like 3 steps away by the sink. If you want a spoon fed 10* breakfast you may want to search elsewhere.

location was good, near Monastiraki square. breakfast was also nice, not many options, but normal. wifi works fine, room was very clean and cozy. facilities too old, but you feel like home and it doesn't matter too much. staff was perfect. ? from my very little "balcony" was seen Acropolis.it was very nice. room was a little bit small. facilities too old and not modern. There was not a tooth brush/toothpaste and slippers in the room.
