The staff was excellent and very helpful. The breakfast was also very nice. I did not stay at Town Gates Hotel!! I was booked there, but they changed me to Old City Inn, saying it’s the same company. Old City Inn is in an old building in the old town (it is hard to find if you did not book their own driver to bring you from the airport), and the building does not have an elevator. The breakfast is on the 5th floor.

First of all I would like to state that the hotel that I am evaluating now is NOT the Town Gates Hotel but the Old City Inn which supposedly belongs to the same company and thus we were transferred to that hotel for some reason (we had been notified about the transfer via whatsapp beforehand, however, there was some confusion as we had not read the messages (our fault) and were desperate to find the address we were referred to at the first place. After all my advice is to doublecheck the address on the day of check-in anyway and tell the taxi driver to drop you off nearby as ours did not really do a good job of it. Actually if you want to take a taxi, you'd best ask the hotel staff to make a reservation (the receptionist lady is very kind and helpful) for you as first of all they have an unbeatable offer, which we had not taken and had a really bad experience with a local taxi driver. Taxi drivers at the airport tend to be "naughty" and you should ask about the price in advance, or if you fail to do it, take a photo of the driver's ID in the car and also the licence plate before he informs you about the fare . The hotel has a very good location in the old town from where everything is easily accessible even on foot. There are a lot of wonderful restaurants nearby, I especially recommend Xanliq Restaurant at the top of the street the hotel opens from as it has an outstanding service, very good food, a great terrace and live music (other restaurants on the same street are also good). We also loved the 360 degree panoramic view at the top of the hotel that we could enjoy during breakfast.

The location is great, right in the old town and very close to the main landmarks. The receptionists were also kind and helpful. They helped me to cover the light with a curtain. The room was big enough and it had a private bathroom. The room was just under the cafeteria (in the 3rd floor) and it was a bit noisy in the morning when they moved the chairs and tables.

Good location in the old city. Comfortable hotel. Room had a balcony and a beautiful view of the Flame towers Furniture in the room can be better organised to enable the bed to have a night table and the bed lamp to be in easy reach.

Hotel is very calm area but in central palce in Baku, near the Metro Station. The personal in hotel was very helpful and very kind. I believe that, this was one of the things that made my experience of staying in there that good. Thank for everyone who helped me. Nothing special.

Azerbaijani people are very friendly and staff did best they could. The breakfast room has an amazing view over the city and we had a short version of Azerbaijani breakfast every day included in the room price. Everyday we've been told that coffee will be available for brekkie the next day but it never happened for 7 days

The position was great. In the old town and 5 minutes by feet to the new part. Everything was walking distance. The room was okay, not too big not too small.
