Good location & included breakfast No parking

Well located, nice common areas. Small, overall expensive, price for breakfast prohibitive. .

Charming old hotel; comfortable room and inviting lounge area for drinks; good breakfast Dinner in Ghillie's bar- this place was a disaster. Cold soup, mediocre main courses- none of the food was hot. Getting a full set of cutlery and a napkin took a lot of effort. The place was busy on a Saturday night but so disorganized. Staff were friendly and trying hard, but seemed inexperienced. We actually went to the bar to get a drink and the young woman tending the bar said she would have to go get her colleague to serve us because she wasnt old enough!

Very authentic Scottish feel, really enjoyed the day. The stairs to the rooms were a bit challenging

Super cozy room, good quality mattress, decent breakfast, fantastic common space with extra comfy chairs and the fireplace! variety of choice for breakfast could be a bit better - like cold cuts and quality bread for instance.

The Breakfast was fantastic, the staff were lovely and the overall experience was great! The idnner was had was delicious and the both the check in and out process was seamless. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the area! Couldn't fault it!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay here, our room was perfect for a one night stay. We ate both dinner and breakfast, the food was delicious and we also enjoyed some drinks from the bar. The area around the hotel is beautiful as well and we enjoyed the local pub with live music and local people. Everyone was very nice, helpful and accommodating

I would have liked a more accessible shower, but realize that this is an older property and that it is not possible all the time.. by that I mean, not a tub, but a walk in. We did not ask for one, so it is possible one is available. Made it work.

Excellent location . Plenty of space for relaxing. VERY hard bed in room 11. Dusty under washbasin.

The welcome was very warm and friendly and we were allowed to check-in a little early. The room was nice and warm and larger than we expected. The food and service was excellent. The coffee at breakfast would be nicer if it had some coffee in it! :) Light brown hot water is not that pleasant!

We enjoyed our one night stay where we found that the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was warm, clean and comfortable. We had our dinner there and although there was a limited choice the food was tasty. It is in the middle of Ballater and although the hotel does not have private parking, there is free parking not far from the hotel. We liked it all.

We stayed here few nights and enjoyed it! We decided to stay an extra night instead of packing up and going to Aberdeenshire coast for a night. The room was very comfortable and the staff was really friendly. The coffee and tea cart was excellent, breakfast was tasty, and we enjoyed drinks in the evening in their comfortable lounge area. They have games available in the lounge but we enjoyed planning our next day hikes and reading. They are close to many great hikes with wonderful geological interest and views. We managed to also hike the Balmoral Cairns on a beautiful sunny day in November! The colors of the landscape are breathtaking from the Cairns. Despite some off and on rainy weather, we found a number of other wonderful hikes from Ballater town, Muir of Dinnet and Linn of Dee those days which included breathtaking views, waterfalls, and rainbows. Yes we had to weather some wind, rain, and low visibility (clouds) but it was very fun regardless and we had a comfortable place to return to after! I have a lactose allergy and I think that one morning my request at breakfast was not fully conveyed to the kitchen so I had to be a bit more specific the next day.

Cozy. Very good dinners. Excellent service from a particular staff member - Fiona- who found my lost jacket and shipped it to me promptly . Very much appreciated that . Living room by fireplace very much needs an update .
