We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Gardenia. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and check-in was quick and easy. There is a lift, so we could immediately head up to the first floor and settle into our room. The room was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked extremely well, which was definitely appreciated in Barcelona. Some nice extras were waiting for us, including coffee, water, Coca-Cola and chocolates. The bathroom was spotless and had a fantastic large rainfall shower, which I absolutely loved. There is also a separate handheld shower if you don’t want to get your hair wet. A hairdryer, shower gel and shampoo were provided, as well as a toothbrush and slippers. Upstairs, there is a rooftop terrace with a very small plunge pool. Don’t expect a full-sized swimming pool, but it is perfect for cooling down and refreshing yourself on a hot day. You can also buy drinks on the rooftop at very reasonable prices. Inside the hotel, there is a vending machine with various drinks and snacks. The breakfast was one of the biggest surprises. Considering the price and the relatively small size of the hotel, we thought it was excellent. There was a good selection of cheese, cold meats, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, coffee, milk and different juices. You could also order different types of freshly prepared eggs, with or without bacon. For a hotel of this size, the breakfast was genuinely impressive. Our only real downside was the location of our room. It was close to the breakfast area, so from around 7 a.m. we could already hear plates and cutlery being prepared. Light sleepers might want to request a room farther away from the breakfast area. The neighbourhood is very multicultural and lively, which might feel a little overwhelming to some visitors who aren’t used to a big city environment. Personally, however, we never felt unsafe during our stay. Overall, we had a very positive experience at Casa Gardenia.

Geographically great location and close to key points (however not the most pleasant surrounding culture-wise so you may feel uneasy at times). Great housekeeping and reliable room air conditioning, nice showers, comfortable beds. Free beach towels. Coffee wasn’t 24/7 - perhaps this used to be the case but has since changed. The common/kitchen area didn’t have a/c on all the time so we could not spend as much time there. No pool - more of a bathtub (so don’t book here if it’s just for the ‘pool’).

Good AC in the room. Room was clean, staff were helpful when required. We were able to leave our bags on the last day and collect them later as we had a late flight. Location, while reasonably close to La Rambla (10min walk) is not the best, the streets don’t feel 100% safe and the environment is dirty. I didn’t have any bad experiences but I was not feeling so comfortable in the surrounding streets. The room itself was very small for 2 people.

The stuff were amazing, they were extremly understanding. Room was very clean, spacious enough. Location is great really not far away from the center. Since we’re in the city center, you may hear some street noise at night.
