The lady at the front was amazing and attentive. Made us feel welcome! Nothing

The owners were helpful with information and the breakfast was great. We stayed two nights and would have liked to stay longer.

This was my favorite hotel on this trip. With its half-timbered facade and the interiors as well (including the staircase) it is right out of the Middle Ages. The location couldn’t be better - it is right by the cathedral, and there is a great grocery store right across the street - yet it is quiet. Anais was very understanding and helpful to me, always so pleasant and with a smile on her face, and was also responsible for the delectable breakfast which was a dream. I would definitely stay here again on another visit to beautiful Bayonne. No AC so might get hot in the event of super hot weather, but temp was ok for me with weather out in the 70s (around 20 Celsius).

Lovely staff person at check-in Ancient building Nothing

Location excellent, amenities great Dark narrow staircase.

The host was very helpful and helped me bring my things upstairs. The building is from the middle ages and hasn't been restored so the walls and floors are a bit crooked and the heavy timber framed walls are the real deal, which I liked. It has a real authentic vibe. I don't know if there was heating, but I couldn't find it, so I was a bit cold. The breakfast was okay but not very big.

Thank you for the stay

Incredibly kind staff, brilliant location, good hot shower and nice optional breakfast at a time that most places are closed. It just needs a bit of love and attention to detail, some things in the bathroom could have been better.

On arrival the reception is in the large hotel bar opening onto the street, and the owner/manager/barman was really welcoming and very amiable. The property is really old and the floors and stairs are a touch wonky, but it adds to the charm. Our room was nice and large with 2 big windows. The bed was large and comfy. The bathroom was also big and modern with a very large shower cubicle which was nice. The hotel is a winner for its fantastic character and its handy location in the midst of the old town. Also it was pretty good value for money. The hotel is in a busy tourist street that can be a little noisy at night (although the modern windows do insulate from the worst of it). Also sound travels through the walls and ceiling (not too surprising as it is very old and mostly wood) but the other room residents made minimal noise thankfully. The room has great potential but largely lacked any 'wow' factor as it needs more interesting decor and colour, and better furniture which was pretty sparse and plain. Two free bottles of water would have been appreciated in the room (at least for the first night). Spare pillows in the wardrobe would have been good as the ones provided were a little flat and firm. The wifi seemed inconsistent but worked most of the time. There was quite a lot of mold around the sealant in the shower.

Nice place, nice views Lots of stairs to climb but we knew that.

Great location. Nice room. Staff pleasant.

Excellent central location in the heart of the old town. New management is extremely kind and responsive to customer needs. It can get hot in the high floors in the summer since there is no air conditioning.

Hotel le Port Neuf is an old property in the heart of the old part of town. It was exactly what I expected and hoped for in terms of character and was very comfortable. The 50+ stairs to reach the room were OK with me, but I suspect they might pose a problem for some. The staff was friendly and helpful and the location is excellent! There is nothing about the property that I didn’t like.

Located above a bar, which shuts in the evening so have to make your own way in with a door code.

Quirky old hotel in a very old building with a cafe/bar on the ground floor. Owner/attendant was extremely friendly and helpful. No elevator, the stairs will test your sobriety. Nevertheless, really enjoyed staying here at a fantastic location in a fantastic city.

Bedroom and bathroom were both good sized. Loved the beamed ceilings. Easy walk from the train station. When you enter the building at night, the hallway is very dark. We had to use a cell phone light to navigate to the next door where we found the stairwell light.

The front desk/bar ladies were nice. The room was comfortable but basic. The breakfast was decent, with fresh-squeezed juice. The front desk lady assured me that my top-floor room was “tres tranquille” (quiet) and it was. Be aware that Bayonne is pretty much shut down on Sundays. No shops are open and very few places to eat. This hotel’s bar/front desk is also closed. I was able to get in & out because I had the door code.

Right in the center of town There is a very narrow staircase going up, and sometimes the light switch is not in the right spot for you to find

The room was charming. New bathroom with great shower. Great location. The breakfast was very ample, tasty and inexpensive The building is very old, contributing toots charm. However the steps are narrow with a turn on each level making it a challenge to maneuver baggage.
