I booked it through booking.com. It was fully paid. The hotel made me pay again. Then the next day when I was able to find documentation that it was already paid the hotel staff told me to submit documentation, which I did from another location, and then refused to give me a refund. They said booking.com has to give the refund. Booking.com has made this difficult

The bar area and the restaurant area. We were put in room 101. Its old fashioned and a bit sad. We booked expecting a modern room across the road that we thoroughly enjoyed last time we stayed. The food was okay.

Our room was excellent. Spacious and clean. The location is great. Very close to the castle and the lakeshore. Overnight parking can be an issue if you have a car. We had a car and there were no problems but at busy times it can be.

Very nice selection of breakfast

Staff helpfulness, location Lack of directions between the pub and rooms. Location of room - had room 215 yet no room number on lift or on room door. Names listed in lift showed no floor number - we had to search all floors without success before having a staff member showing us where it was. Shower required to climb into the bath - I'm handicapped because of a broken hip and both of us are 85 - there was only one 'grab handle' on the wall of the bath/shower and that was too far away from the shower head, so I had to stand without being able to hold the handle to have a shower. Risky!!

Decent size room. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Good location but be aware parking is in the town sea front parking just a couple minutes walk, not an issue, but at £7.50 a day which would make it expensive for a longer stay. No sound proofing on windows facing the street so very noisy and draughty in the morning. Stayed for dinner and was told earliest available was 8.15 but restaurant was empty when we arrived (we were only in the bar so could have got us earlier) and closed the kitchen without offering dessert/coffee. Dinner and breakfast was quite expensive and average.

The rooms were very spacious and with all the amenities needed for a hotel stay. I liked the option for a free drink to replace service of the room for one evening given we were only there for a short stay. Staff were fairly attentive and the decor or the hotel part itself was very tasteful and breakfast enjoyable. Although staying in a double over the road it did not present an issue and I would stay here again. In my view, dinner I felt was overpriced for what I received but it was edible. Option was a variety of tea and coffee at breakfast would have been an added benefit.
