The location was somewhat central, but 10 minutes car ride away from the Tianmen/Forbidden City/Wangfujing area. The adjacent neighbourhood is okay, not the best buzzing one. But if you commute with DiDi then it is quite convenient. The reception/lobby area is grand and nice. Room was okay with all amenities. Room service was good. Bed was good. Breakfast was fantastic with lots of traditional and international options. The toilet was a bit cramped. The toilet door was a glass door which is not the most convenient one. There were not towel racks in the toilet.

Close to Beijing Railway, bank, supermarket The room was very dated. Carpet looked dirty and furnitures looked damaged. I even found a hair tie on the bed that didn't belong to me. Lobby was gorgeous so I had high expectations but inside the room, very old and felt quite suffocating because of heavy upholstery and dim lighting. I was warned against smoking in the room (not a smoker myself) and yet the room smelled quite a bit of smoke. For the price, I expected more. Staff were not very accommodating either except for 1 person in the front desk who helped me with Didi booking.Location-wise, unless you plan to use Beijing Railway, maybe not the best location.

I would also like to recognize several members of the staff who were genuinely helpful. One receptionist assisted us with a package delivery, and another helped us book attractions in Beijing. Their professionalism and willingness to help made a positive impression. There were several issues that significantly affected my stay. The check-in experience was disappointing. I specifically requested a room with a city view, as this was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel and it was advertised in the room description. Instead, I was given a room facing another building. The biggest concern was cleanliness. There was visible mold inside the room, as well as mold, grease, and dirt in the bathroom, around the ventilation, on the walls, and on the carpets in both the room and the corridors. I have attached photos to support my review. For a hotel advertised as a 4-star property, the level of cleanliness was far below expectations and felt much closer to a 2-star hotel. Only one bathrobe was provided for two guests, and during check-out I was questioned as though I had taken the second one, even though it had never been provided. The bathroom also offers almost no privacy because the shower is separated from the bedroom by transparent glass. Finally, the breakfast area is far too small for the number of guests. During busy hours it becomes overcrowded, making it difficult to find a table or even basic breakfast items. Overall, I was very disappointed with my stay. In my opinion, this hotel is much closer to a 2-star property than a 4-star hotel. I would not recommend Howard Johnson Paragon Hotel Beijing, as there are many cleaner hotels in Beijing that provide a much better experience for a similar price.

The hotel is really good for the price we paid. 20 euros a night for a 4 star hotel is really nice Nothing specially

Friendly staffs The room was much smaller than the photos appeared online. The toilet was constantly malfunction. The breakfast was terrible.

Overall, we had a great stay! While the hotel has a slightly classic, old-fashioned charm and the room was a bit smaller than we expected, everything else was fantastic. The staff are super friendly and incredibly helpful, the gym is well-equipped, and the breakfast was wonderful. The location is ideal—just a few steps from the metro and about 200 meters from the train station. We highly recommend staying here!

Supreme buffet breakfast Excellent convenient central location 1 minutes walk to metro. Not handicap friendly in the breakfast restaurant. People smoked at the entrance made me feel sick and triggered my asthma.

Very convenient location. Very close to all city attractions. Room was good. bit smaller than we expected. However, breakfast and other facilities were up to standard.

I liked the location and the overall hospitality of everybody. Breakfast was very good and with a lot of things to choose from. Hard to believe that in 2026 internet can be so bad in a hotel. I had to go to the lobby several times to get things done and even then internet kept dropping.

The only disappointing part of our stay happened when I got sick and needed some hot water to take my medicine. I asked the reception for hot water, and they directed me to the restaurant. However, the restaurant staff refused to give me any, saying they could not provide a cup. There was also no water dispenser available anywhere in the hotel, so I couldn’t take my medication. For a four-star hotel, I found it very disappointing that such a basic request couldn’t be accommodated. It was especially upsetting that no alternative solution was offered.

The location is perfect. The room we stayed the first night was disappointing, very small and the view was into the atrium. The next day we were able to change into an other one which had a view to the city. The changed room was much bigger and spacious with nice views. It was a very positive change and we were very satisfied with our new room till the rest of our stay. The breakfast is amazing with a very big choice. The photos are misleading, it’s an older hotel. You paying mostly for the location.
