I really enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hotel Birmingham. First of all, the location is perfect as it is really close to the train station as well as the theatre I was going to one evening. The room was spacious and cozy and I especially enjoyed the bathroom and the shower! The staff was super friendly and nice! If I'm ever in Birmingham again, I will definitely stay here again. This is really me being picky, but the only thing that would have made me even happier would have been a slightly wider selection at the breakfast buffet which was included in my booking. Sure, you can order lots of tasty breakfast options from the menu, but I feel there could be a few more options for the guests who choose not to order anything extra.

The rooms are excellent and quiet Had dinner in the bar, which on previous occasions had been excellent. On this occasion understaffed. Poor service. No peppercorn sauce or veg . So basically just steak n chips. A really overpriced deflating experience. Breakfast was the same. Poor. Would not stay again. In fact spent the rest of the week at Hotel Du Vin which was much better.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly. The produce in the cooked breakfast was of high quality. The room has no soft surfaces, so the event of breakfast doesn't feel very calm and relaxed. I had assumed the hotel would have had toothpaste/brushes in the guest rooms, and I was traveling light. Having called room service to inquire about this, they said in a rather brusque fashion, that they would check and see if there were any laying around. Nothing appeared. Whilst I understand this is not a given in each room, I do believe the hotel should have items such as this in reserve. We had booked a deluxe room for one night at a high daily rate. In addition, on the morning of our departure I asked the receptionist to order a taxi for us. They gave it a minute on the line, and then hung up, referring me to the taxi rank outside on the left! This could have been handled better. Having lived and worked in Asia for the past 22 years, I admit I'm use to traveling well, but customer service is at the heart of great accommodation and I believe the Grand could fine tune their offering.

I have stayed at a lot of hotels but I was blown away by the Grand Hotel and by far the best hotel I have stayed at. Everything about the stay was simply awesome! Nothing at all!

Location Bar prices were bordering on extortionate

Great location, clean and rooms were nice Breakfast on the weekend took over 1hour to be served as opposed to the Monday (buffet). Had booked the junior suite but due to change of plans had to book another night did ask reception before arrival about a complimentary 1 night in the same room instead of checking out an moving to another room but different responses from reception ! Also could not get a late checkout even tho this had been requested!

Nice decor and old school surroundings The staff have no initiative. It’s a five star hotel and they couldn’t produce a hot chocolate at 9:30pm. No caffeine free drinks in the room provided such as mint tea or chocolate. Only coffee and black tea. The staff can hardly string a sentence together. Can’t be 5 star.

Great location, bar and staff

First time here as a business partner had booked their room in advance. Perfect location in the city - close to station for trains from London and convenient by car to park at the nearby B4 Parking (with 50% discount by the hotel). Room on the sixth floor was large, entrance area made the room even larger and the bathroom was a good size. Bottles of fresh water and a great selection of hot drinks and biscuits were provided. If I needed to stay in Birmingham city again, this would be a first choice. Nothing

Room and bathroom were excellent. Bed was huge and super comfortable. We booked into Isaac's downstairs for food and entertainment and it was fantastic.
