Location a-bit of drive to bath

Location was great for exploring the region - easy to get to, park and close to some wonderful Cotswold locations like Lacock, Corsham and Bradford on Avon. The rooms were lovely - converted old station, set back from the main road and behind the pub itself - very spacious (we had the Alcombe room) and a great bathroom and shower. Double glazing made everything pretty quiet. Food was great 0- definitely get breakfast included. We ate dinner there too - everything was very good in that regard (and it's a lovely old pub for having a drink, with an lovely beer garden behind - we were there in early April, so too cold to be outside, but would be lovely in warmer months). Can' t really open the windows in the accommodation/leave them open overnight, as the trains go past at high speed (maybe every half hour up to around 10om at night and start again around 6am) - it's quite a noise out of nowhere. We made this mistake on the first night, but not the second. But this is really the only negative from our whole stay.

Spotless, totally inviting atmosphere, careful attention to available drinks etc, mood music added to the ambience. Comfortable bed and spotlessly clean bathroom. Food and breakfast in the main building was a very short walk. Service was very friendly and helpful.. Nothing

The room was beautifully decorated and comfortable, and the dinner was also fantastic. We loved the little antique radio in the rooms. It was such a nice inn on all levels, and great it was so close to Bath.

First impression was friendliness and personal attention at check in. Second impression was the room... This was immediately inviting at first sight.... Beautifully furnished, softly lit, pleasant and subtle mood music on the radio. Clean, neat and tidy facilities, particularly detailed attention to coffee, tea and bottled water. Always important ... a pristinely clean, warm and spacious bathroom. These separate rooms at the rear of the property are pleasantly quiet, very well designed, tastefully built and cleverly nestled on an embankment with their own secluded car park. A thoroughly enjoyable place to stay only 20 mins from the city centre. I will be very happy to revisit.

We stayed at The Northey Arms for one night and really enjoyed it. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a little bit tight for two travelers. The real highlight, though, was the food — we had the best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time! Crispy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Overall, a great stay with excellent hospitality and a meal definitely worth coming back for.

The room was delightful, dinner and breakfast was delicious and the staff were super friendly and hospitable. Easy drive into Bath.

Room was quiet, clean, and quaintly decorated. Staff was great and walked us to our room. Restaurant and breakfast was excellent. We were in the building near the railroad tracks and didn't even notice. Easy drive into Bath and Cotswolds area. Everything was great.

Homey and comfortable. Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Easy parking. Close to railway so noise all night.

Although it was small, we had most everything we needed.

Bath is a 20 min drive from the hotel (bit longer than I expected).

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was exceptional. Rooms were a little small but not a problem.

The location was perfect and the property very lovely! I would highly recommend the Northey Arms! The staff was warm and kind and so helpful we want to drive into Bath but the local bus stop was right in front or the property which made our visit even easier.

We had supper in the bar area the night the Lionnesses brought home the trophy! There were a few families and couples in and the atmosphere was upbeat but calm! The food was BEYOND delicious- really nuanced flavours in both dishes (my husband had the trout; I had tarragon gnocchi with asparagus and truffle emulsion. Both stunning). Breakfast (shakshuka; eggs royale) were equally well cooked and beautifully presented. We stayed in one of the newer rooms and it was a great experience. Large room; beautiful bathroom (walk in shower, monsoon shower head), lovely toiletries. The room was beautifully decorated with an eclectic selection of antique books scattered about to peruse. They give you real, Illy coffee, with a solid cafetiere; real milk can be got within the main building. We will be back as soon as we can; it was a wonderful night and rescued a difficult week. Literally can't think of a thing.

Breakfast wasn't our favorite. We had much better breakfasts at other places we stayed and they were much cheaper. The staff wasn't very friendly or helpful.

for us as we visited Castle Combe and did the circular walk.

Nice Pub, food OK, gave us take away breakfast

  • Engine customer May 2025

Lovely character pub, cosy atmosphere. We stayed in the annex rooms which are a separate building . Lovely size room with very comfy Superking bed (2 x singles together) large bathroom. The room was close to the railway line but the trains were infrequent and no issue. Breakfast took its time but we were in no rush and when it arrived it was lovely. Nice quality products and very well cooked. On arrival we were taken to a smaller room with a smaller bed than we had booked ( we booked a Superior King according to Booking.com) the bed looked to be a double. We asked for this to be checked , the female member of staff was very helpful and friendly but the male member of staff she spoke to and who later spoke with my husband was far less so, insisting that all the beds were the same size, asking my husband quite sarcastically had he been measuring the bed and referring to what seems to be an inaccurate bed list on the wall in the bar before then blaming Booking.com. Quite rude. When we were then shown the larger room by the female member of staff (who was lovely) after showing photographs of the size etc you could plainly see the bed was much bigger and the room too. Staff need to know what they are offering, indeed some of them may benefit from the tape measure approach.
