Good old pub food ! Crooked floors

Very dated needs updating and more staff

The staff is very friendly and helpful, dining room inviting, food excellent and the food service fast and reliable. The hotel itself is charming and comfortable. Room cleaning was excellent. I liked the ability to add breakfast to my room bill. I think the hotel could do something to make staying in Room 3 (my room) less noisy. It's located directly above the bar, which means there is music playing and noise until 11:00pm. Some nights, people lingered outside for as much as another hour, talking loudly. Some kind of soundproofing might help, but it was difficult getting to sleep until all the revelers had finally gone home.

Central location. Parking on site. Staff are attentive and friendly. Couldn’t be more helpful. Lots of choice for breakfast which was really good. Good choice for food during the day and a welcoming bar area. Would definitely stay here again. Don’t book room 26. It is next to the ventilation system. Humming noise lasts all day which isn’t a problem. But it goes on until the kitchen closes and starts up around 6.20am.

It was very dated and there was a funny smell like damp

The historic building is full of charm, and its location is ideal. They have lots of events in the hotel which makes for late nights of noise. If you can deal with that, it’s great.

Friendly staff, lovely shower although plug needs unblocking, free parking, great location as we were using the train station for the radio 2 party in the park event.

Good location, food was pretty decent. Staff were helpful Can get very noisy with weddings/parties and if it's hot you can't leave the window open due to the noise. If the room had AC it would have been so much more comfortable. WiFi was infuriating for guests at the hotel. You have to use the same WiFi that the pub users use and every few hours you have to go through a tedious logging in process and the signal wasn't that great for the most part so if you stay for business and need WiFi then I recommend looking elsewhere. Another missed opportunity, the room I stayed in had a really nice modern TV but it was connected to the pub guest wifi so it meant you couldn't use any smart features. I eventually used my phone as a hotspot, updated the TV and some apps and streamed Netflix using my own data as the pub wifi wouldn't work for any of the apps. If the IT department can get in top of the internet issues then this would be a good place to stay for business but for me I wouldn't stay here for business again.

Great location. We had fish and chips for dinner at the pub. Food was great and well prepared. Room was ok. Sheets were clean and comfortable. Stairs were too much for my husband and I. Stair between bedroom and en suite bath was dangerous. No safety grab bars to access the tub/shower. Probably would not stay again. Perfectly fine to describe this property as a two star. It may have been a 3 star 20 years ago.

Everything except tv remote didn't work breakfast outstanding obviously a well organized team , reception went trouble to get me a charger for my phone, that was totally flat

Very comfortable bed, nice food, excellent staff

I eat at the hotel. Nothing l was happy with everything.

Good-sized room, clean and a comfortable bed. Bathroom also well-equipped and met my expectations. Breakfast. Food was tired and 'average'. Need to use a bit more TLC - offer fried bread, better quality sausages. Coffee was dreadful and cold. Offer cappuccino or proper filter coffee. (that said, the service was good and staff were fine)

Room was quiet, clean and comfortable Only a small gripe, but service could have been better in the restaurant as it wasn't busy when we dined there
