Omni La Costa Resort & Spa Carlsbad

Bed bugs! We had been heavily bitten by bed bugs during our stay. This is a severe health and safety violation. I’m going to report this property to local health department.

The older villas are falling apart - we stayed for a week and we had several issues: ceiling fan stopped working, dead fire alarm, overhead lamp fixtures broken, and the “stocked” kitchen had a broken toaster and little to no cooking utensils. We were told by management that they would come by and move our room and every day someone said management would contact us but 7 days went by and no manager contacted us. Also, all the perks for kids were out of stock which was a bummer for our children. I would not stay here again and would recommend looking elsewhere for a family vacation.

Wonderful, beautifully maintained resort. We had some ants in our room, that was quickly resolved by staff. Rooms are not great with soundproofing which resulted in poor sleep due to noisy neighbors, but otherwise we loved our stay. The resort itself is very peaceful with many amenities

This resort exceeded our expectations!! The grounds are stunning, beautiful property, great food, loved the snack bars by the pool! Couldn’t fault anything

I’ve seen a lot of hotels over the years but by far this is the most worst one I have stayed at when it comes to customer service they’re so extremely rude. They tell you somewhere to go and they point but yet it’s not a point it’s just it’s over there to me that’s not customer service. That’s just fun about being rude. I think the whole time I stay there was one person with was semi helpful but yeah it would. I have never had a bad day like I did here.

The property itself is beautiful and spacious, with nice grounds and plenty of areas for families to enjoy. Overall, the resort feels overpriced for what is actually provided. The price seems to cover little beyond the room itself, while the level of cleanliness, amenities, communication, and attention to detail did not match what we expected from a resort in this price category.

It was good

The problems started at check-in. We had a party of five, but the hotel only provided us with one toothbrush, which was surprising and inconvenient. At check-out, the credit that should have been applied to my bill was not deducted. I called the hotel to resolve the issue, but instead of getting a straightforward answer, I was transferred from one person to another. I had to explain the exact same issue three separate times to different staff members, which was extremely frustrating and a waste of time. The parking situation was also poorly managed. The parking areas were not clearly marked or explained. After we had already parked, the hotel told us that we needed to move our car to another parking lot before 6:00 PM. Clear instructions should have been provided from the beginning rather than inconveniencing guests afterward. Overall, the service felt disorganized from check-in through check-out. For a hotel, basic things like room amenities, billing, communication, and parking instructions should be handled much more professionally. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below my expectations.

We loved our time at the Omni La Costa. Room was clean, pool was a lot of fun for the kids. We all enjoyed the food and drinks at the pool. Check in was later than expected / advertised (almost an hour and a half after advertised, and we had to check in multiple times on if the room was ready). We’ll absolutely return.

they reminded us that we had a $53 resort credit, and then conveniently forgot to subtract that from our bill, requiring a phone call, phone tree, two operators and infinite headache to get reversed. the room was tacky, it reminded us of a 1970s florida sit com time share, there was a refrigerator in the middle of the room with two fans sitting on it, the furniture was dated, likely the early 90s the coach was musty and smelled like wet dog really, what a horrible disappointment, we will never stay there again

Didn’t golf, but strongly considering it for next time

We arrived around 11:00 a.m. knowing check-in wasn't until after 4:00 p.m. I wasn't expecting a room early, but I also didn't expect to wait until 5:45 p.m. We spent nearly seven hours waiting, checking with the front desk throughout the afternoon while my young son grew more and more exhausted. By the end, he was lying on the lobby floor because he was so tired. We were told housekeeping was behind all day. At one point, we were offered an "upgrade," but it was actually a dark first-floor room with an enclosed patio instead of the balcony we had reserved. We chose to wait another hour for the correct room. When we finally got in, the bed sheets were still damp. Checkout had issues too. Although we were given a late checkout, our room keys stopped working at 11:00 a.m., and we had to wait to get back into our room. Then the promised resort fee waiver and our $53 food credit weren't applied, so checkout meant another stop at the front desk to get the bill corrected. The staff was friendly, but the resort seemed understaffed and overwhelmed. If you're staying here, be prepared for possible delays and double-check your bill before leaving. As much as we enjoyed the property, this experience made me wonder if a day pass would have been a better option than staying overnight.

Check in is 4:00. We arrived at 3:15 hoping to get an early. We had a wedding rehearsal to change for. They said we could get a room “shortly “. Didn’t notify us until 4:30. We had to rush to make the rehearsal. Even worse my daughter went to her room to drop her things and go straight to the rehearsal. Bathroom was filthy with urine all over the seat. Second day I took out a bath towel from the starch under the sink. Some kind of red lump, looked like a blood clot or melted makeup, couldn’t identify was on the supposed to be clean towel.
