Hotel Agathae

The property was well located near Bellini Park, and right on the Main Street that runs down to the Duomo. I added the breakfast, which had a nice selection of food items, and a nice patio to eat on. I had a room that was near a neighboring kitchen, and the noise was enough that I needed ear buds and white noise to sleep. The other rooms might have been fine.

Ideal location on Via Etnae, walking distance to many attractions and points of interest. Historic building, high ceilings and large windows/balcony doors in room, elevator in building. Secure entry access. Friendly, helpful staff. Airport shuttle available. Small room, small bed, but fine for solo travel. Shuttle service to airport starts at 4:40am, so if your flight is before 6:30am or so, you'll need to find different transportation.

The breakfast was adequate. We were on the top floor, and the room appeared to be larger than average on paper. Although the room was suggested to be larger, it was, in fact, not very usable. There were two bedrooms, and we needed to use the second bedroom to open our two medium-sized suitcases. There were four windows and one door opening to the exterior, but we could use only three windows, and they only opened onto a light well. The door to the exterior was jammed, and I couldn't open it. The window from the kitchen was unusable because hot air from the air conditioning unit blew into it. The lift to the third floor didn't work and I had to carry our suitcases up the narrow stairs.

Beautiful historic property, lots of charm and character. Perfectly located, top notch breakfast, wonderful people. Wish we could stay longer. Everything was perfect!

Location very good, near the local Roman Amphitheatre ruins, and other attractions. Decor was good, especially in the shared areas. Hotel breakfast, which was available for the modest cost of $7, was good. Bathrooms were decent with newer fixtures. When I originally ordered one room, this ended up being a room with a single tiny bed. I did not understand that the bed was extremely small and was only intended for one person. So when we arrived, they moved us into another room at higher price with two tiny beds. In either of the rooms, the beds were not large enough be be shared with another person. The elevator was strange in that it was necessary to haul bags up five steps before placing items in the elevator. Sound insulation was not good. Some other guests complained about noise we made in our room - must have been our fault, but it was embarrassing.

Central location , very helpful staff members. Loud at night , could not sleep until 3:00 in the morning. Rooms need some renovation,everything seemed very old!

Location is excellent This hotel is dingy, small rooms, dark stairwell and hallway. No hot water in the morning. Thank goodness we showered at night. Needs updating. Furnishings are old and cheap. Stayed down the street last year for about the same price in a MUCH NICER hotel.

The location is great for people who want to explore the city on foot. Lot of food options and shops around.

It was a pleasure to arrive at a hotel and find our receptionist Giulia greeted us with a big smile, and she was very helpful and it was the perfect start to our holiday. We paid the extra for our breakfast which was very good (they even bought coffee yoghurt for me, after I enquired if they had any) The staff always had a big smile and were very friendly. There is also a delightful terrace for breakfast which overlooks the park for the summer months. Our single rooms were nice and clean and ideal for our stay. The location was really good, as it was right by the delightful gardens of Villa Bellini and the pedestrian road of Via Etnea, filled with shops which leads down to the Cathedral and main tourist areas of Catania.

Very central and close to lovely pasticcerias and restaurants. The garden close by is very nice too.
