While this hotel is very "cool" that is about the end of its charm. It was clean. Beyond that it was not an experience I'd like to repeat. We reserved the biggest room, the king bed corner room. It was not, by any stretch, big. When we arrived we noticed it was very warm in the room. We lowered the blackout shades and cranked up the AC. We had the AC set to 62 all night but the room never got below 73. By mid afternoon of the next day it was 80. We complained and were first told it would "probably cool off later". I explained the previous night and asked to switch rooms. We were given no discount on night two even though we had paid for a nicer room. Additionally the first morning we were there the breakfast person was not there and we ended up having to grab something at Starbucks instead of the lovely meal we were anticipating. On night two, in our second room, we spent the entire night listening to every toilet flush, hand wash, argument, etc of our neighbors in addition to the 2:30 am drunken group of returning wedding goers. The soundproofing is non existent and because the AC unit barely has a fan there is nothing to drown out even the quietest noise. When we mentioned this to the staff we were told it was a "hip hotel for millenials". I suppose millennials don't like sleep? The neighborhood is depressed, not within walking distance of practically anything and not using the $35 a night parking valet risks not having parking. Not worth the $900 at all.

Great eclectic boutique style property. Has great potential as the neighborhood grows

    Tiny room. Good staff.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Paper thin walls, rude staff, dangerous location, far away from the city center, I could go on…..but I want to put this place behind me and not think about it anymore. Good luck.

Cute boutique hotel but not close to the waterfront where all the restaurants and shops are or the walkable area. Have to drive or Uber to those areas. Didn’t feel safe outside the hotel

Not so good experience. Rattling AC in one room moved to an extremely hot 2nd room…. Very minimal space in the rooms.. pillows sucked

Loved our stay here...my girls 11, 13, and 17 were smitten with the room and decor. I wish it was in a better area of Charleston, but it looks like the surrounding area will be cleaned up and built up in a year or two. The walk to King street was easy enough for all of us to enjoy.

Great spot for exploring Charleston. Close to everything. Rooftop bar is fun and offers nice views of the city.

This hotel is more for the younger generation. The same price i could have stayed at the Hilton on King Street. There was no night life and no luxury. If you are looking fir luxury do not come here. The pictures on the web are very deceiving.

    Not bad!

This place was very modern with a tiny minimalist room. The rooms are on the lower floors and the reception, lobby, rooftop bar are on the top level. The rooftop bar was cool. Nice conference rooms. The room itself reminded me of a dorm room. When I got over my shock, it was comfortable enough. Very modern, no frills. The location was kind of far from the historic downtown, but still within uber distance.

We had a wonderful stay. I could be nitpicking to have a con but my overall stay was awesome.

However after long day sightseeing we went to bar for a night cap, the male bartender was so rude and not helpful at all, it really left a bad taste for us,

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Surprisingly nice once you got off the street. Bartenders were very friendly and good. Clean, small efficient room. Bar menu is limited but very good. Neighborhood appears run down but the Moxy is a move towards revitalization of the area. A bit odd to have to go to the 6th floor to check in at the bar. With the room on 3rd floor.

1st we had no idea that parking options for the hotel were either on the street overnight, or the valet. I don't know if its cause we booked thru Expedia instead of Moxy directly, but we had no idea, and the valet was an unexpected and whopping $55. Our valetmen were also disconnected, listening to stuff on their phones and not really engaged. I don't expect full on conversations but at least be engaged. 2nd, when we checked in, apparently they had somehow overbooked the Queen room we had already paid for, so we were given a room with two double beds instead. They asked me if that was okay, and I was like, do I even have a choice? No offer to try to figure something out, no credit back to us, or even ANY kind of perk at all to make up for the inconvenience. No follow up from a manager either. 3rd, the room itself was unimpressive. Not warm and inviting to hang out in at all. A plain room with two beds and a tiny little desk. For how cool the rest of the building was, even just the hallways of the place, it was shockingly bare. Really kind of an underwhelming experience.

Great location in the very center of the city. I wish I could have a closet but anyway thank you!

This hotel was really disappointing. Let’s start with the reception and valet service — the staff were not welcoming, didn’t smile, and barely provided any useful information. The neighborhood also felt very unsafe at night, with a large homeless population around the area. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.

    Superb

Moxy hotels are very interesting in their design, it’s smartly located little bit outside of the center, close to the bridge, the real Charleston isn’t downtown/ king street. Short ride to mount pleasant (wow) I guess it’s not much about the property, but the area is still in development. And if you’ll try to walk anywhere around, no much of vegetation or shades around, if you’re not used to the head, you’ll suffer a bit
