Chengdu Buddhazen Hotel

I loved the location of this hotel for visiting Chengdu. The staff was so friendly and helpful, especially Yin helped my stay go smoothly with tips and assistance booking activities.

Very good location in quaint neighborhood. Not accessible for cars so need to walk about 4-5 minutes. Zen interior very charming. Good breakfast from 7 am. Friendly staff. ,Can be difficult to connect with drivers who can’t get to the hotel itself. And Chengdu traffic can be fierce if trying to see sights.

This hotel was a traditional Chinese hotel with Chinese fixtures and fittings and is located inside the old town area, that make you feel you are traveling back to ancient China! Nothing

We stayed for three nights in this very pleasant hotel located in the middle of an interesting pedestrian area in central Chengdu. The room was spacious and had good access to power points and a desk. The hotel is designed around two large internal courtyards with delightful traditional Chinese gardens. We enjoyed the nice breakfasts in the hotel and visited a couple of the many restaurants located in the streets nearby. The staff were always very helpful and friendly, providing advice on where to eat and assisting with the taxi on departure. Luckily, this hotel is not plastered with panda memorabilia - you'll plenty of that the minute you walk out the door! Still, they are very cute! (Hint: Visit them in the morning when they are more likely to be active and munching on the bamboo.) Be aware that the hotel does not have a lift, however the staircases are very broad and allow ease of movement with cases. We made the mistake of opening the bathroom window and invited a few unwelcome mosquitoes into the room on the first night - they didn't bother us for very long after some well-aimed swatting!

The staff was incredibly helpful and received us at a late time and the resort was beautiful, during the day the location is in a unique and vibrant neighborhood with plenty to do

The hotel is really beautiful, looks like a Budhist temple. Gorgeous inner garden. Fantastic position in a great location in Chengdu, very close to Wenshu Monastery Temple. Breakfast is very frugal, but you can have it even before 7am if you ask (which was very good for us as we mostly left at about 7am). Really available and kind staff. We were here in winter, yet the first night my girlfriend was bitten by some sort of a bug (possibly a bed bug) and had a significant allergic reaction. Bathroom was clean, but again, although it had an internal ventilation system, the door has an opening that shouldn't be there.

In winter it is relatively cold, with airheaters this goes actually well, but you don't leave them on, do you.... Breakfast is not great

This is not just a hotel, this is an experience. Great building, great room, great area! The staff is very professional and in the reception they speak english. Nothing negative

The hotel architecture was very historic and its location is excellent with small eateries and tea houses in nearby alleyways or within a short walking distance. It’s like in a historic township in ancient China. There are also performances such as “变脸” in the surrounding theaters with affordable prices. The staff is helpful and friendly. Off-season room prices are definitely value for money with spacious room that comes with a simple breakfast provided. The location can be quite quiet at night in the off-season and the hotel looks dark at night. However, that’s the historic experience in reality.

Location was convenient. Hotel room was spacious, had a good amount of privacy. The receptionist was helpful too!

We stayed here before in 2018 and returned because we liked it so much. The room was large and comfortable with a small balcony. The room included a closet and a room safe. The bathroom was large and accommodating. The room rate included buffet breakfast which was very good including both Asian and Western options. We like the location on the north side but it does require taking the subways to some of the city's attractions. The subway station, however, is not far from the hotel and it is very easy to use. We also took advantage of the drying rack provided as well as the hotel's laundry service- both much appreciated. Hotel staff were helpful in recommending restaurants too. The room was well maintained but the hotel overall appeared to be in need of some maintenance and updates.

This is a gem of a hotel in a great location. The staff is very helpful and upgraded our room to a one-bedroom suite, which included two balconies. The room had incredible air conditioning, which we really appreciated. The hotel has a very relaxed and peaceful vibe and is uniquely beautiful. Highly recommend We loved everything about this hotel but I’ll just mention that it’s in a pedestrian-only area, so if you have a lot of luggage, there’s a short walk from the street to the hotel. Also, there’s is no elevator. We didn’t have the breakfast so can’t comment on that.

Beautiful Chinese architecture and exquisite artifacts thruout. Wonderful English speaking front desk women and exceptional housekeepers. Breakfast consisted of fruit, cereal, muesli, fried eggs, bacon and toast as well as a multitude of deliciously prepared veggies, steamed bread and cake, and steamed rice and rice soup. Coffee and tea. Breakfast staff attentive and accommodating. IT solved connection issue immediately. Rooms were large enough for 2 and luggage with an easy to lock safe, closet to hang multiple outfits, glass door fridge, desk, water, tv, ac, terrace to view this ancient area. Walk in shower had plenty of hot water and excellent shampoo, conditioner, body wash. Sink was a Chinese ceramic bowl and had nice hand wash. Lots of amenities. Towels were nice and thick; sheets were soft to touch. Bed and pillows comfy. It was no problem for the property to accept a few ex package on my behalf and easily extended my reservation and changed it when my flight from Port Moresby was cancelled due to super typhoon ragasa.

Excellent breakfast, friendly, accommodating staff who speak good English. The hotel oozes Old China charm, a lovely place to stay. Location is central with plenty of restaurants and shops around, near the Wenshu monastery and metro line. It can be a little tricky to find at first as it's on a pedestrian alley but all the locals know it.
