Big colonial property has separate wings of modern and vintage Massage lady only one so she is always over booked or over worked

Excellent location. Very friendly and professional staff, all the way from the front desk to the wait staff and the concierge including security at the gates. Great people at this Hotel Toilet bowl underneath was stained. The bedspreads/ sheets had a few stains

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. I liked the old colonial style of the hotel. Staff is helpful. Nice Tamil Nadu speciality restaurant. Location is good if you want to do some shopping at the mall nearby. For us Chennai served as a short stopover. It was not spotlessly clean, as one would expect from a Taj. From the windows at the entrance, to the pool, it was not clean enough. Except for the gym. Also there is a mouldy smell in the corridor where our room was.

Peace and quiet in the heart of Chennai. Some minor items were forgotten. Like the shaving items and a comb.

The mattress was much too firm, I slept poorly. Most of the staff were lovely, smiling and helpfulbut whe I sat on the terrasse by the pool with friends in the evening for a drink no one came to wait on us for near 30 minutes and when we inquired, they questioned why we would want to sit there with the mosquitos. The staff much simply have come out right away, warned us of the mosquitoes, checked that we were happy there, and take our order. Similarly, when I sat at the pool in the afternoon the table was not clean and I had to flag someone down to take an order for a smoothie, and ask them to clean the table (glass, with some footy grime and evidence of a previous guest's drinks. The table was not then particularly well cleaned. These are not enormous problems but are not up to the standard of service I would expect froma Taj property.

Both my wife and I enjoyed the breakfast buffet. I enjoyed the filter coffee and the south Indian delihts like Das, Vada, etc. We will like to use the same facility on our next vist to chennai. Only problem was with TV connection and should be improved.

We have two rooms, and one room smelled like cigarette smoke.

The staff was so friendly and willing to help create great stay. The breakfast buffet was awesome and the staff was very attentive and gave personalized attention. We felt very welcomed. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Beautiful old building- very secluded and away from crazy streets They never responded to multiple requests for early check-in so we had to wait 7 hours to get our room. At 3am they started unloading the lifts and making lots of noise in the hallway. We were away by 530am so all in all not great. We also had an outdoor window that couldnt be closed allowing street noise and fumes in.

It is an excellent property evocative of a Madras from an earlier era. The service was excellent- a few names stand out, Dileep and Monica at the reception, Caleb the porter, Shankar from the restaurant and quite a few more names. They made us feel welcome and went out of their way to meet the requirements of a family with young children. The mosquitoes at the pool- there must be a solution I am sure ?

The pool area is very nice and the Raintree restaurant is beautiful The staff was nice and kind, but the organisation was not the best. We asked for help to book a restaurant, and they never got back to us. When we already had booked (and prepaid) their New Year gala dinner they kept calling our room to ask if we wanted to book …

Ofcourse the location Breakfast was getting bit monotonous, when the breakfast centre gets busy the staff did'nt know how to accomodate the guests and were running like headless chicken!!
