I liked the accessibility. Using a PIN for the front door and the room was convenient. The shower/bathroom on the lower level was lacking. The floor was constantly wet and there was barely any counter space to put toiletries, dry clothes and towels, besided the already wet floor.

Staff were very friendly, especially the cat ones! The overall vibe of the place was very nice, and everything was surprisingly clean. We also enjoyed the historical fun facts and information bits everywhere. The showers, and also our room was always freezing, and we didn't have any control over our heating.

It would’ve been good to have some bedside tables and a charging port or power outlet near the head of the beds. Mattresses were a bit hard as well but otherwise had a great day.

Cool to visit — it had some good common areas, a nice pool table, and the staff were friendly. They also cleaned every day. Unfortunately, this was the worst dorm experience I’ve ever had. I regrettably booked a full week of non-refundable accommodation. Before booking, remember that this is literally a converted prison. The dorm room was cold and depressing, the showers were rubbish and often cold. and the toilets are very much ‘prison’. The surrounding area also didn’t feel particularly safe. On my first night, I heard a fight nearly break out outside, which I couldn’t help but find slightly ironic. If you don’t want to risk ending up in a cold prison-cell-style 10-bed dorm with some questionable characters, I’d strongly recommend booking a private room instead. The common areas were clean and reasonably nice, but the dorm experience was horrendous. My first night was genuinely bad enough that I actually felt like crying. Two stars is generous. This feels more like a $10-a-night hostel. I almost feel like I would’ve had a similar experience if I’d actually been locked up for a week (except that would’ve been free). I’m fairly well travelled and have stayed in plenty of hostels, but this was easily my worst dorm experience. I will never be coming back.

History & experience of staying in a real jail! Noise in morning when we wanted a lie in. Limited parking, felt a bit edgy.

loved that it made me look around and think that this was a jail one time. and I did like the TV Room. the bed room was ok I have already emailed the staff about this. and it must have been just one of thoughts a moment in someone else life to think it was a good idea to try and go through my things when I was not quite asleep. so, of course I stayed awake for the next person please try and keep your things in a locker. but my one was taken by someone else.

The staff are lovely and will help fix anything you can't do yourself. It's s bonus when there are other people staying that aren't afraid to strike up a conversation.
