Newly renovated in summer 2012, the Steigenberger Hotel Dortmund combines top-class living comfort with a relaxed and homelike atmosphere. You also have good public transport access to all parts of Essen and nearby exhibition cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. Location and cleanliness were very good, as was the staff experience and the general quality of the room Fitness center could be better equiped, a rowing machine would be ideal but otherwise it was better than most german hotels

The location is fine, 15 minutes by metro from the main station and 25 minutes by bus. Several eateries are in the nearby surroundings. Peaceful and calm in the room. Room service was ideal. A coffee machine is provided in your room with a water bottle, which is very rare in German hotels. The restroom is small although my booking said a superior double room with an attached bath. The same goes for the shower, it was small and after some time, water started seeping on the floor from the shower area, I had to put several towels to save myself from a possible flooding in the room. The TV shown the photos is 360⁰ opposite. The room TV was small and only contained a dish TV channels, which was quite boring. It needs an upgrade for sure, hope to see it on my next visit.
