Homewood Suites by Hilton Durham-Chapel Hill / I-40

We paid for a king suite when we arrived, it was changed to a two regular bed suite. There was a roach in our room. Knobs came off drawers and there was no hook on bathroom door just a round whole where it had been.

We asked for towel, did not not get it. Breakfast area chairs were filthy. Breakfast eggs were very bad. Bottom line awe full

Amazing... Have stayed there several times.

The next morning, the Wi-Fi said my name didn’t match my room. I called the desk and was asked if I was “Ms. Hernandez.” I’m an adult male, and my last name isn’t remotely Hernandez. They gave me a premium Wi-Fi code and I moved on. Later, while at work, the hotel called asking if I had checked in. Apparently, despite giving me keys in a folder with my name on it—and me sleeping there all night—they never actually checked me in. After a 14-hour workday, I returned carrying dinner and work gear to find my key disabled. Back downstairs I went. I was told multiple employees had made mistakes, my reservation had been canceled, and I would need to pay nearly $800 AGAIN and contact “WebBeds” for a refund. I booked through Expedia and had no refund pending. The manager called the next day and spent plenty of time explaining their processes and who made which mistakes. What I never really heard was: “We’re sorry. We messed up. Here’s how we’ll fix it.” I don’t care which employee made the mistake. I care that someone owns it & fixes it. The kicker? I chose this hotel after a bad stay the previous week at Home2 Suites—only to discover they’re both Hilton properties. I’m a Hilton Honors member and normally have great experiences, but the Hilton properties in Durham have felt more like poorly run mom-and-pop motels than a major hotel brand. I’ll be working here for several more weeks. It will be non Hilton for sure.

This was our third stay and we will never stay there again! First we were on the the third floor in a suite which was roach infested! I notified the front desk and they said they were moving us to a suite with a balcony which they did move us but not to a balcony room which was okay. I got everything moved by myself as my husband was in the hospital after open heart surgery. I had not even unpacked when I saw a cockroach crawling across the kitchen counter! I immediately went to Walmart and bought roach spray and bait motels. At 2am there were earwigs spiders and cockroaches in my room! I left and went to the hospital and spent the night there.. That was on 8/10/26 our reservation was scheduled through 8/3 - 8/13 upon returning to the hotel with my husband on 8/10 my room key had been deactivated so I could not get into the hotel! I got my poor husband back into the vehicle and went to the front desk. I did make them aware of the roach infestation etc and requested that my reservation be canceled as of the next morning! Also I ran into another guest who also stated that they had also had to switch rooms due to non stop construction and roaches in their first room as well as them in their second room. I get the impression that they are very aware of the situation and they really don’t care! Also the pool was not usable for to a algae issue which I mentioned to them as well! I did report all of this to Hilton corporate and sent them pictures of the pool and the bugs!

Unannounced carpet repairs on all floors were noisy, dirty, dusty, and uncoordinated. Can't believe they expected my family - which included two dogs and an infant - to be okay with it. This used to be our "go-to" hotel in the area, but we'll think twice next time.

Staff was very friendly and very helpful! They were undergoing renovations during my visit so cleanliness throughout the hotel was alright. Housekeeping was absolutely wonderful! Breakfast buffet hit the spot. I’m sure the hotel will be even better after the renovation!

When we first arrived our room had a non-working ceiling fan and AC that didn't get cooler than 71 even though it was set to 63 upon entering the room. However, they switched us to another room with working AC and fan. They were renovating the breakfast room so they said that it was to be served on the second floor as a "grab and go" style. But when we got there there was still construction tape around the second floor area but they went ahead and served a mediocre breakfast in the newly carpeted area despite not having time for the rug glue to dry. Not great communication between staff but they were very nice and accommodating.

Everything promises was there. Ok hotel stay.

Room/furniture not very clean. TV/remote not working properly. Lobby area needs updating. However, staff was pleasant and responsive.

The room size with the 2 bedrooms and 2 baths with the living space was so nice after a long drive from PA to NC. The breakfast was great as well N/A

The suite was good sized and well equipped. We were in and out a lot. Staff was very helpful. Location great for areas I wanted to visit.

Hotel has some areas that seem new. But outdoor and pool are not maintained

On the positive side, the hotel fitness center was reasonably well maintained. Breakfast was exactly what you would expect at a moderately priced Hilton property. The location is very convenient to 15-501 and I-40.

This was an amazing trip. Homewood suites was great I love this place stayed here a few times in the past. We stayed 4 days place was very clean staff was awesome breakfast was delicious with lots of choices. Can’t wait to return again. Thank you so much to the amazing staff of Homewood Suites in Durham NC….

Maintenance needs improvement. Lights needed to be replaced in our room, the fan was not working and the stopper in the sink needed to be fixed. For what we paid, these items should have been done before we arrived. The cleaning staff should check all items in the room before leaving and making ready for the next customer. The hotel did move us to another room which we appreciated, but inconvenient as we had to pack all items up again after unloading.

We came from Homewood Suites Columbia in South Carolina and in comparison this hotel is extremely outdated. It was a bit of a disappointment. Our room was very hot and muggy upon arrival. The third floor was musty with a mixture of different smells. Our room was clean. We could hear the next room over through the bathroom. Breakfast was good and there was options for the entire family. We appreciated the water and coffee provided in the lobby. Our 5 year old enjoyed the pool. One staff member at the front desk was extremely kind and helpful providing us a new key. While another staff member during breakfast was rude. It was viable for a few nights, but we would not book another stay here.

During our stay the bathroom door lock jammed and I was stuck in the bathroom. The front desk clerk said I have to stay until the maintenance guy came in the morning, and then hung up on my son. He refused to help us. There are too many items that malfunction within the property.
