No breakfast offered. Ate next door. Dinner and bar great! Shower wand in tub not very easy to use and not safe.

Lovely historical town right on the water. Gorgeous evening views over the water of the various bridges. Very kind staff. A longer walk to the airport bus than originally believed

I found the Stag Head Hotel to be a nice surprise. It was half the price of hotels in or around Edinburgh. From the description on the website it sounded like it would be a bit dodgy with warnings about noise from the pub downstairs but it exceeded my expectations! The hotel is right on the main street of the pleasant little village of Queensferry, right on the Firth of Forth. I found it quiet and easy to access my room, which was on the second floor. My window overlooked the bakery next door which was an excellent place to have breakfast. The room had twin beds and was very clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom ensuite. I didn't eat there but the pub downstairs was cozy with friendly staff and locals. Its also super easy to get to the airport from there on the bus or by car since you can bypass downtown Edinburgh. Really can't think of anything.

Loved the ambiance of an old seaside inn. Would have liked a shower. Room was clean and comfortable in historic surroundings.

This was truly awful due to the staff. I felt they literally went out of their way to make my experience terrible. There were plumbing issues with shower, they would pound on your door at check out time to get out, almost refuse to get you a taxi… word around town is they are horrible to their staff and this carries down to how they treat customers -this place is a nightmare This was explained in the last paragraph -this was the worse hotel in my 1 month hotel in the UK

Location on the waterfront, comfortable beds, easy walk to shopping and dining, free parking Tub/shower was a handheld sprayer at tub level only

The location was on the water and was the most pleasant location after our long day of backpacking. The room was cool and comfortable and the location was very good! nothing.

Friendly staff. Nicki, Louise, Ayisha and Stephen were are very kind and helpful. Close to Stockbridge, cafes and bars. On the bus route. Quiet. Room was lovely and very clean. The pub was very sticky and small which made me not want to eat there.

Beautiful location. Staff was friendly. Simple and lovely. We were on a bike Tour on the John Muir Way and went right past the hotel.

  • Engine customer May 2025

View was amazing. The staff was so helpful. Easy drive to the airport.

  • Engine customer May 2025

The room was great. The bed was super comfortable. I asked for a room with a view, and the view was amazing! The location was great for me, because I was heading straight up north after my visit, so this was more convenient than staying directly in Edinburgh (plus lodging there was way overpriced). I did not enjoy that the bathroom had no curtain or blinds. There was no other building that had windows within view, but using the bathroom at night was a bit uncomfortable, knowing anyone with a telescope or something could look in (which I doubt would happen).

Lovely property! Lots and lots of stairs to get to room!

Very well situated for exploring South Queensferry. About 20 minutes walk to the station for 15 minute journey to Edinburgh centre, and buses a few minutes walk. Room is in a pub but entrance is at the side so you can go straight to your room. Clean and warm room, comfortable bed. I had the single room and the shower room was across the hall - easy to use, no inconvenience. Nothing to complain about. I didn’t hear any noise but I was back late so maybe missed it as the booking site mentions a disco in the pub.

The staff member receiving me was very friendly as she showed me the room. The room was functional, but exceptionally clean. The big bathtub is an extra. Hospitality tray very generous in quantities of coffee and sugar sachets. Good location for catching the 747 bus to EDI airport early in the morning, it's only a 15-min walk. Though I knew I booked a room in a pub where they have disco nights on Saturdays, I would have loved the hotel side of the business to reflect on this by providing earplugs. Unfortunately this wasn't the case. I still had a good sleep, I wished I have had a great one. The warm water tap on the bathroom sink was very wobbly. I would have loved to find sweeteners on the otherwise very generous hospitality tray.
