Gainesville Lodge

Fantastic place to stay in Gainesville. Very close to UF. For the price, this is a winner compared to some other places I’ve stayed in Gainesville…

The room itself was decent: nice furniture, good TV with plenty of cable channels. The shower was basic but got the job done. However, the room had a strong cigar smell, which was off-putting right away. And then there was the AC. After a six-hour drive in the heat with all the stress of moving our child in, we were exhausted and desperate for a cool, quiet room to sleep. Instead, the air conditioning unit ran like a truck — loud, rattling, and impossible to ignore. We couldn't sleep at all. That single issue really brought the whole experience down. With a quieter, newer AC unit, this could have been a perfectly comfortable stay. As it was, the noise made it hard to recommend for anyone who actually needs to rest.

It’s did the job. Dirty floors and cockroaches. Wouldn’t stay there again.

Great boutique motel in downtown area close to the college. Nicely remodeled rooms. Excellent coffee bar on site. Staff are friendly, helpful & accommodating. Great value. The area around the motel is in a little rougher section of town & it would be nice if you had someone for security at night.

It’s close to UF. The furniture is updated and nice looking. On the downside, the air conditioner didn’t cool very well. Our bathroom floor was dirty. There were no hooks or bars to hang towels. The conditioner dispenser in shower was empty. Towel was stained. Wash cloth was dingy looking. Overpriced.

Staff is amazing. Rooms are clean and nicely decorated. They could include a small usable fridge.

Kristy at the front desk went above and beyond!! She made our stay wonderful!!

The staff was amazing. The general manager was very pleasant and helpful! The bar tender Jules was a lot of fun. I will definitely be back to stay again.

Also great walking distance to downtown.

Well kept, affordable location for visiting UF and downtown Gainesville.

Can’t say enough about the hospitality and the manager Christy at this hotel. She went above and beyond to make sure my family had a great stay and felt right at home!!! my son was studying for finals and absolutely loved twist as a study lounge with great coffee!!! The room was clean and we felt very safe! Highly recommend this hotel and would come back in a heartbeat!!

That said, there are a few things that could use more attention. The paint on the doors and door frames appears to have been applied over multiple previous layers without adequately preparing the surfaces, so the finish is uneven in places. More importantly, the room listing indicates a refrigerator, but what is actually provided is essentially a very small six-pack cooler that looks more like a toy than a refrigerator. There is also no longer a microwave in the room. I think these basic amenities should be provided. Also football weekends command premium prices. However, some of the rates, the overall offering doesn't seem to justify the price. The surrounding area is somewhat tired and not particularly scenic. At some of the higher rates being charged, I think guests should reasonably expect a real mini refrigerator and microwave.

The check-in process was easy. The room appeared to be clean, the only things that I was not exactly happy with were the fact that the fridge in the room was literally one of those fridges that fit in a school locker or something like that, we had went out to eat before we checked in and we’re not able to refrigerate or save our leftovers. The air conditioner did work fine although it was very loud and noisy, and the only other comments I would make is that there is no microwave in the room. There may have been in the amenities, but we were there for a short stay for a medical procedure so we didn’t get to check that part out much but it would’ve been helpful to have one in the room as I’ve never stayed anywhere that didn’t have one. Lastly, I’m not sure that this is anything they can really do about it,but the water had a very sulfuric/bad egg smell as if the well was too shallow so that didn’t make for a very pleasant shower or brushing your teeth.

The place was clean and comfortable. What I have issue with was when I put the do not disturb sign out, that's what it meant. Someone not only entered the room, made one of the two beds and left (super strange). Nothing else was cleaned. You came in, made one bed and left. And took the DND sign away. The next morning while getting ready at 9am the maid staff just entered the room again, no knocking. No sign (because it was taken) and no warning. Get that fixed and I'll consider staying here again.

In general, it's a great, very clean property -- the bathroom was very nice, no weird smell from the sink or weird sounds from the pipes/no issues with water pressure. It may not be a five star hotel -- it's a motel in downtown Gainesville, but for what it is, it's a great low-stress stay and very much worth the board.

It was the cutest little place to stay. Cozy, comfortable and right downtown. Staff was amazing!
