Location walking distance to town, amazing pool for summer time and large and comfortable room.

Beautiful stay out in the country. Very quiet and peaceful. Amazing view. Free breakfast was great. Staff was fast and attentive. Cappuccino was good. We didn’t eat at the property, based on other reviews we decided to explore and eat in other nearby towns. Lots of parking, the attendant took our luggage up to our room for us which was good because of the stairs. On the way out it was the same thing they got our luggage and brought it to our car for us. The pool was beautiful especially at night. The hotel was clean. It was a beautiful place for our 20th anniversary! Even though there is a mini split air conditioner in the room, it doesn’t work at all. At breakfast we over heard another couple saying the same thing. We had some mini fans we brought with us to use while touring and thank goodness we had those as a back up otherwise it would have been almost unbearable with zero air movement. I guess it’s assumed there will be a lot of stairs and no lift in an old place like this, we had no idea so the amount of stairs was a little shocking. Thank God we are younger and we were able to manage but I kept thinking of this was someone with a bad knees or a little older they would have a very hard time. Just something to keep in mind.

Absolutely beautiful! Everything Little warm in the room. AC worked fine but I guess room was too big for only 1 AC

The property is almost surreal... Nature, vegetation, view, outdoor pool (look and size), lawn, location.... I don't remember ever seeing anything like it.. It's just unbelievable that the property isn't better maintained, everywhere you look everything is a bit worn out.... the parking lot is a disaster and the breakfast is at the level of a 3-star hotel..... I can understand that it's difficult to maintain such a large property, but such a breakfast is incomprehensible..

Breakfast was good but less than expected. The Michelin restaurant is kind of overrated. Excellent pool and garden&landscape.

The history, design and outdoor area are outstanding Too many stairs to get to room and bar. The outdoor restaurant area could use some music ( background music ) especially in the evening.

It was absolutely gorgeous! The staff so attentive and friendly. We were within a few miles to some amazing vineyards. The town of Gaiole is very charming. There was scented diffusers all over the property and in our room. It was too strong smelling but we were able to remove it from the room.

Service was top notch and the facility is incredible.

The service was outstanding. We messed up our reservation and didn't account for what we thought was our first night. They handled it and just extended our reservation, making is super simple. The breakfast was awesome as were all of their food and wine. The grounds and amenities like the spa was awesome even though it was cloudy and rained the whole time. Lastly, it was nice and quiet, which we really appreciated. I can't point to one thing, honestly.

Unique. A wonderful conversion of an 11th century monastery Mattress far too hard. Also shower tub combo not practical.

Everything was wonderful except for the bed was very hard so we did not get much sleep.

Castello di Spaltenna is one of our favorite hotels to stay at. This was actually our third time there and we expect to go back when we travel to Chianti. Our kids, 3 & 5, love staying there too, with the amazing pools and delicious food. Can't wait till next time! The only "complaint" is we wish the beds were a little bit more comfortable, but thats really it.

Dinner was less Italian then expected

The property is gorgeous. The staff is really great. The food was good. Large rooms. Great massage! Not a lot of diversity in guests. Almost all were American (including us). Kind of takes you out of being away in Italy a little bit. But, there is a cute little town right down the hill, 3 minutes away that you can get your fill of Italian culture at.

the amount of stairs to get to our room was tiring but it's not a surprise since it is an old monastery! They carried our luggage so it wasnt a problem at all. The main issue was the regular restaurant was unavailable for the days we were staying there which they did not tell us about in advance and was kind of frustrating.

An absolutely stunning property with spectacular views over the Tuscan countryside. The rooms were gorgeous. The infinity swimming pool sublime. Great food and the service from all the staff was professional and friendly. Nothing.
