The Frame Guesthouse - Hostel

The rooms are excellent, spaceous and quite well decorated. As is the whole hostel. You need to het it though, first it seems run down, but then you see the barista bar and the communal living rooms, all very beautifully designed. This isn't run down, this is the "New York warehouse" kinda style, or in this case Penang warehouse. Many restaurants and shops do the same thing in this area. It's a former frame making business and they still have frames and the original sign i nthe lobby. The staff was more than great, they chat with you, they provide touristic information and were much friendlier than the staff at a 5* hotel in KL I am currently in. I had so much fun in the hostel meeting other guests as in Penang that I extended, two times :) So I first had a private room with bathroom and toilet, this one was very well designed and later a private room without the toilet and shower. Which is more fun actually because you are meerting people more easily when you travel alone. However, the atmosphere in the hostel is great, I was a little but jealous of the "dorm people" they seem to meet obligatory and make new friends every day. Then there is the hostel social chat on whatsapp, optional but a lot of fun, it also brings people together. And then there is the price point what can I say. When I retutn to Penang I'll surely return here, maybe even try a dorm room at my age.. The barista opened the coffee bar at 9:00, which was sad, I love coffee, but at 7:00 in the morning. By the time it was 9:00 already had enough coffee's outside. The coffee I did have however was fantastic, so try anyway.

The building itself if is old and therefore quite noisy. You can hear people walking throughout the night and the private rooms are right next to the bathroom so you can hear people using it at all times of day.

The staff members are so nice.

The location is underrated yet very central—close to everything in Penang. The downside is the noise: you can hear conversations from other rooms and along the corridors, sometimes late at night, as if people were not sleeping.

A very stylish hostel in the center of everything in Penang. It was really nice to have a kitchen (no cooking but there is a fridge for guests) and the common area upstairs is nice. Bathrooms were always clean. The shared bathrooms got pretty crowded during peak times which was a bit annoying. The common area downstairs is super cool, but not the most comfortable to relax in. Our private room was close to the bathroom and had really thin walls, so we could hear anyone talking. Some people were rude and being loud in the bathroom late at night but that’s not the fault of the hostel - just know you can hear clearly.

Super clean, quiet, comfy beds. Front staff friendly & close to everything.

Noise echoes very easily from floors and outside, many broken sleeps but would still stay here again

The place is cozy, clean, and very comfortable, with a relaxing atmosphere. I truly enjoyed my time and would definitely come back!

The guesthouse is comfortable and has lots of common spaces to hang out. The cafe downstairs was a bonus for a quick place to grab coffee. It's clean and nicely decorated, room and common bathrooms were nice. Staff were friendly and had good suggestions for things to do around Georgetown. Also a great location.

The receptionist is very kind I talk with him she also told me lot of things about the city and also we share lots of information.

Location wise the best we can expect. Bunk beds were not that comfortable. Otherwise I loved everything about this stay. Staff were extremely nice and helpful. They have a cafe and food was so good.

Simple, comfortable, nice staffs… No conditioner…

The place was clean , the staf was really helpful specially Knth , without him my stay was gonna be soo dry ! He showed me around and spend two days walking around the city , thank you soo much ? and place is close to almost everything, i do recommend it for anyone .

The hostel is huge. Several big spaces to hang out with fellow travellers. It has a hostel vibe. They also offer some free snacks upstairs. I stayed in this hostel twice. First time I used a 8 person dorm. Experience was not good. Floor was squeaky. Any time I turned, the bed would shake. Any time the person in the lower bed turned, my bed would shake. Overall, I didn't have good sleep. The second time I used 4 person dorm room. It was excellent. Bed was very big, comfortable and not shaking. I had very good sleep.
