Suimeikan

Excellent stay at Suimeikan. We were wowed and felt like royalty when we were greeted at the entrance on arrival by a lineup of staff and when we departed from the hotel after 1N stay. The personalised concierge on arrival to explain the 3 buildings, different Onsen, the place for dinner and breakfast, and escorting us to the right building was a nice added touch. The room was spacious, clean, with comfortable futons, and we enjoyed the complimentary Japanese snacks and tea while overlooking the calming view of the fish pond from the window. The Japanese dinner and breakfast were excellent, and we enjoyed the experience at the various Onsen as well. All the staff we interacted with from front desk, concierge, and dining hall were friendly, professional and polite. Thank you for Suimeikan’s attentiveness to details. We left with happy memories. Nothing.

The property is beautiful and filled with art. The Onsen baths are great. The Japanese meals served in the in the main dining room were pretty bad. The food was beautiful to look at but they lacked flavor , or sometimes just tasted bad. The Hida beef was tasty, but only a tiny amount was served. The food was very disappointing.

It was a very nice and well-maintained hotel, and the overall atmosphere felt very calming and relaxing throughout our stay. We used both the onsen at the Hisen building and the open-air bath onsen at the Sansui building, and both were incredibly comfortable and enjoyable. A feature we really appreciated was that the hotel allowed guests to check the crowd level of the onsen directly from the room and at the lift lobby, making it easier to visit during quieter timings. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They remembered our special request that one of our companions could not eat beef, and thoughtfully provided pork instead, which we really appreciated. The hotel is also very conveniently located, only about a 2-minute walk from Gero Station. The cake at the café was surprisingly delicious, and dinner was enjoyable as well. Breakfast was buffet style, but it felt slightly underwhelming compared to the rest of the experience. Some of the dishes, such as the pasta, curry, and miso soup, could have been served warmer, especially for breakfast. Overall, it was still a very comfortable and memorable stay with excellent onsen facilities, thoughtful service, and a relaxing atmosphere. There was also an unfortunate incident during breakfast where a staff member accidentally dropped a glass containing leftover milk, and the milk splashed onto me, though thankfully the glass shards themselves did not hit me. Luckily, I was wearing the hotel yukata, so my clothes did not get dirty. While one staff member quickly cleaned up the floor, the supervisor was mainly standing nearby directing the staff on where to clean. I felt the supervisor could have first apologized and immediately checked whether I or the nearby customers were okay or injured before directing the staff to clean the floor, instead of only asking after I had already stood up to allow the cleanup.

Very high class and luxury facilities, including three onsens, gym and swimming pool, kids arcade Centre!

Suimeikan is the ultimate in flagship Ryokan locations in Gero establishing the standard in quality, authenticity, and retaining its’ historical value. The Deluxe Eastern rooms with outdoor private Onsen is our room of choice. We have had the opportunity to share Spring here three times, yes the staff and amenities are that great! We enjoy the Onsen breakfast included and chose to have in room dinner during one of our nights, with the remaining nights exploring Gero and also enjoying the in Ryokan restaurants. It is a generous way to enjoy self care and be in well-being for 5 days! There is nothing I didn’t like. Everything at the Suimeikan Ryokan is top tier and has exceeded all expectations. There are a pair of Onsen egg cups I would have loved to purchase but they were unavailable.

Some staff greeted us upon entering the ryokan. The room was neat. The ryokan’s complimentary snacks and drinks were great. Also, the building is huge and has indoor and outdoor swimming pools and some entertainment areas. There were some additional payments.

I enjoyed the hotel’s onsen facilities and the Japanese-style dinner, which was served by friendly, English-speaking staff. The breakfast also offered a wide variety of options, ranging from local dishes to Japanese cuisine. The onsen can feel a bit crowded during peak hours, which affects the overall experience.

Location is very close to train station. Dinner is wonderful. Beautiful hotel especially garden. Onsen water is so good , make skin smooth and slippery. Onsen bath is normal , need more decorating . Some foreigner used mobile phone in onsen room. Please give more stick with the rule.

clean and comfortable ryokan hotel. it is within walking distance to major attractions. there is a personalised service whereby their staff with walk you all the way to your room and to introduce you the room amenities and to make sure you have the right sizes for the clothing (to wear while going to the onsen) the hotel has 3 buildings and gets quite confuse at time. there have 3 different onsen within 3 different building which is quite a hassle if you were to enjoy all 3 onsens (we were there for 1 night only). not a big deal though

Very nice dinner, sashimi and all kinds of starters, the beef was also delicious. The distance is quite ok to the station and city center, they also offered shuttle bus to the station, even when the distance is short. We enjoyed also the onsen a lot, very nice quality. The service of the dinner was also good. The room is a bit basic, but very clean. Actually we didn't really stay much in the room, except for sleeping, most of the time was in the onsen or dining room. The breakfast was a bit less quality than the dinner.

The three onsens at this hotel are wonderful. Clean, spacious, and at a perfect temperature for a relaxing soak. The rooms are spacious and the hotel personnel explained about the hotel in good English. We booked dinner at Tokiwa restaurant and the set menu meal was delicious. The restaurant staff were informative and efficient. Breakfast was good with a variety of items and we enjoyed the Japanese dishes.
