Usual warm welcome with reliable efficient service. General public areas had good ambience and renovation work last year on lower area a job well done. I have been staying at this hotel for many years and on a pretty regular basis. The situation with regards the broken lift is ludicrous - the staff are extremely embarrassed having to explain the situation. For an organisation with the purchasing power of yourselves this is not acceptable - blaming the supplier for years now as opposed to months is ridiculous and a real inconvenience trying to get a lift at busy times - get your act together here !! Whilst you have kept the public areas of the hotel fresh over the years, the same cannot be said for the bedrooms. I found my room (625) very tired with marked table and the shower area very off putting with a lot of black around the base. The rooms need a refresh urgently.

The staff were friendly and helpful if a bit scarce in the Lobby on arrival. I didn't like the layout of the room with no private bathroom and the bed was not easily accessible as it was high with no side entrance at either side, you had to climb up with the use of the stool at the front and scramble over to the top of the bed by the window. When I complained at reception that the room was unsuitable I was told all rooms were of this design and layout. I don't recall seeing a picture of the room prior to booking so will make a point of this next time. If you're not already intimate with your room mate you will be at the end of your stay due to the lack of bathroom privacy.
