El Zopilote Mojado

Excellent location to be near all the action. It's very quiet during the day but comes alive at night. I was in the Azul room and had access to the rooftop patio and went up to often to relax and for the amazing views. The musicians who do tours stop outside the hotel and play and give their talk. I watched from a balcony and it was really fun. Pablo picked me up from the airport ($600 pesos) and I was glad not to navigate getting there. My room, the shared spaces and the rooftop patio were clean. They is a small shared refrigerator i used, but I was the only person there that weekend. Pablo was incredible giving information and details. He's very kind and his English was great. My Spanish is weak, so I really appreciated his help. I am a solo, female, older traveller and I highly recommend this place. It's downtown and it's really loud on weekends. But this is Mexico and should be expected.

We spent 4 nights in this lovely hotel. We were the only guests, arriving after the Day of Dead tourists had left. Our room was bright, nicely decorated and had cross ventilation. There was also a balcony with a view of the city and places to sit. We used the kitchen downstairs to make a simple breakfast. Pablo, the manager, picked us up at the airport and helped when we had questions. The location is an easy walk to the sites and restaurants but away from the hub-bub of the university and Jardin plaza.

Nice old colonial apt with high beamed ceilings and beautiful floor and kitchen/ bathroom tiles. Quiet at night. Spacious for a solo or couple. Pablo is very welcoming and helpful. Could use a cutting board, toaster, and more than one spoon and two forks. Similar places I’ve stayed there provide a 5-gallon water dispenser, but here only 2 small bottles on arrival. Young couples hang out on stairs directly across from apt in a narrow callejon, sometimes talking for an hour or two.

The location on the quiet Plaza Mexiamora is just a block from the busy streets of the Centro but feels miles away. The traditional style room was simple but had everything necessary including a comfortable bed. The guest lounge and roof terrace were especially nice. Olga was very accommodating. El Zopilote is my favorite stay of my trip.

Olga the owner was so helpful. We arrived at 5am after an overnight bus journey from Mexico City. Luckily the previous guests in our room checked out at 4am that morning so Olga kindly arranged for us to rest in the room after we arrived without any extra charge. The house we stayed is a yellow house with kitchen and terrace. Very nice location, good sized room. Some dust residual were on the floor but not a big issue. Cars can’t get to the property, so you will need to take your luggage from the Main Street and then walk up about 30 stairs (as Guanajuato is full of stairs). The house doesn’t have a lift so if you have heavy luggage, make sure you can carry it.

Olga is great. She is responsive and helpful. Bed was comfortable. This was our 4th stay at Zopilote but the first time in the apartment. It was in a narrow alley with no view. We will ensure we request a room in the big house next time.

Central, clean and beautiful apartment in a traditional setting. Olga was an excellent host who checked every day with is making sure that everything was fine. Highly recommend! We were allowed to check out late for our evening bus out of Guanajuato. Many thanks!

Location was good, except that it was a fairly steep uphill walk from where our car dropped us off, but the staff helped us with our luggage. The hotel provided us with beer, which was very welcome. Not far from the main jardin (central plaza). Very nice central indoor seating area and outside terraza (shared with a couple of other rooms). Quiet location. Bathroom, especially the bathtub, which was decrepit. Streetlights shined in our bedroom, so we had to hang clothing, etc. on the windows to block the light.

We stayed in a different building than the main hotel. On the other side of the Plaza Mexiamora and up a small hill. We had a whole floor to ourselves (originally looks like it was a house). Everything was spotless. The 2 roof terraces have spectacular views of Guanajuato. Olga, the owner, was extremely hospitable and super accommodating to some special timing issues we had. Also used Olga’s car service to BJX airport- a Toyota Sienna minivan. We had a ton of luggage so the van was a great help. Short walk down to central Guanajuato. This was only a problem when we first arrived from San Miguel de Allende w/a lot of luggage (purchases from the trip!) — the property is not directly accessible by car.

Olga was very kind and welcoming during my stay. I was in Guanajuato for work and El Zopilate Mojado was the perfect place to stay, with the two beautiful terraces with views of the city, a central location, super clean, and safe. I would highly recommend!

Great location, in a pedestrian zone and within a short walking distance from the historical city center and main attractions. Olga was easy to contact and quick to respond to messages.

Excellent stay. We will definitely come back. The location is great, right next to the center of old town with an excellent view from the terrasse. We were greeted very friendly, the whole place is very clean, coffee and water provided. We loved it and can wholeheartedly recommend it!

The service was exceptional. Our host, Olga went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable, helping us with our luggage, suggesting an excellent restaurant, getting us a taxi to the airport. She was fantastic. This is not a dislike, but a consideration. The hotel is up a hill (like everything in Guanajuato :) ) directly behind the Teatro Principal. It is only accessible by foot, up several stairways.We liked it- the street and views were so beautiful, but then we're from San Francisco and are used to hills.

No breakfast. Unxpected noise at night from Calleoneajada on street below...fact of life in Guanajuato, just unexpected. I had earplugs. That would be a nice thing to provide guests. The door closure was a surprise because it was just a lock and key. I'm used to a dead bolt arrangement. Also, this didn't seem safe in case of fire because it was tricky to open.

The property was very pretty & we liked Olga. When we got there we were moved to another property that was further up hill with e flights of stairs. We did not like that. a couple of us have bad knees & it make it more difficult for us.

Great location, very walkable. Beautiful accommodations. Very thoughtful and beautifully furnished. Full kitchen, the shared areas were like staying in a designers home. beautiful views from the patios Olga at reception was very helpful, warm and went out of her way to make us feel comfortable

We love the staff, central location and outdoor terrace with a spectacular view. Having a kitchen was great. A living area and fountain provided plenty of space to spread out. Be prepared for steps, but then all of Guanajuato is on a hill. Much as we love it here, be aware that the walls are thin and in a town like Guanajuato there are partiers all night, until 5:00 am. Then the dogs start barking and children shouting an hour later when prep for school starts. We did not sleep well. Also, the beds are quite small.
