Location! Ideal position in the heart of Guéthary. Literally 2 min walk from the train station and maybe 7 min from the bus stop - perfect for exploring the area. Train to st Jean de Luz in 15 mins, Bayonne and hendaye maybe 30 mins. Guethary is an adorable town to spend a few days in lots of bars on the beach, restaurants and excellent spot for beach/surf. Hostel was very clean, beds had excellent curtains. Common area very nice, breakfast was very good, staff was super friendly. Rooms are a bit on the small side, you just have a very small locker to put “valuables” in and luggage just sits in room, which is ok. Don’t have a hair dryer Don’t have a charging point near the bed - you have to charge your phone at the entrance of the room which is a bit of a pain if you want to put an alarm in the morning.

L’Escale is the perfect get away for surfers and people who just need a break (that’s me!). The ladies who work there are lovely and it really does feel like a home from home. I couldn’t have chosen a more peaceful place to go on holiday and I will definitely be coming back at some stage!

The people mainly really made this such a special place to me. I will love to revisit this place in my heart always from now on. And the hostel was lovely and the location. Basically everything about it was perfect Nothing

It is very close to the beach to go surfing! Comfortable beds and nice staff Nothing! Everything was great! Maybe only thing would be to have a larger selection of surfboards?

The host are wonderful. Cheerfulness and helpful, anything you can expect from a host. Love this place, with so many satisfied peoples. None!!!⁹
