The inn is right next to Hakodate Station, and you can get to a lot of dining places, convenience stores, and a grocery store easily. It’s also convenient if you want to visit attractions like the brick warehouse area and the Morning Market. The beds are comfortable, the pillow corner has a lot of different pillows to choose from, and the amenities are plentiful and readily available. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash smell great. The staff are professional and kind, and you can leave a sign up asking to replace towels if you do not want your room to be cleaned. The laundry room had 5 washing machines and we were able to get machines when we needed to wash clothes easily. Everything was great. I will gladly stay here again.

The hotel is next to the JR Hakodate train station. We arrived via the airport bus and found out later that we could have gotten to the hotel front entrance quicker and easier if had gone straight through the JR train station. Check-in is on the machine at the lobby. There is a pillow library in the lobby along with amenities. The public bath and lounge with free coffee are on the 5th floor. The lounge overlooks the morning market with views of the harbor and Mt Hakodate. The room is small and difficult to accommodate 2 opened suitcases, but had everything we needed. Liked the mini-fridge and pajamas and the AC and shower worked well. We felt a slow swaying side to side from an earthquake at about 8:25pm, but it didn't seem to cause any damage or disruption to the hotel. The hotel is on the opposite side of the train station from the area containing the numbered bus stops, where we caught the climbing bus to get to the top of Mt Hakodate. The line to get onto the bus gets long, so you need to line up early. The Yamato Transport is located in the JR train station and we used it to forward our luggage to Sapporo. The train station has convenience stores, omiyage stores, snack shops, restaurants & convenience stores, with more of the same in the nearby shopping mall. The size could be bigger, but I knew the size when I booked the room.

Locations is so convenient! Just right at the JR station, so close to many points of interest. Staffs are friendly! The facility is also very clean. Although I am vegetarian, but everyone who loves seafood will enjoy the flavor tasty, fresh buffet breakfast! Great value. Locations, locations and locations. Good value. Staffs are nice, very clean!

The JR Inn lived up to its name, as it was connected to the station in a super convenient location. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go in Hakodate. Since we were staying 4 nights, we upgraded to a larger room with a seating area, and it was wonderful. The hotel has a great system where you can just put your used items outside the door and they will replace it with new items. More hotels should do this! It was extremely busy when we were there during peak sakura season, but the staff handled it really well. And even though we could see the train tracks, we heard absolutely nothing. Tremendous soundproofing. Nothing. It was great.

I really enjoyed the pillow selection. They have a section in the lobby with just pillows that you can use during your stay. There wasn’t much we didn’t like about the property. The only negative I think would be that the sink is outside by the closet and only a roll down curtain separating you from the rest of the room - that blows back from the AC causing no privacy. This wouldn’t be a big deal normally but I was travelling with my brother.
