Quietness. Big garden. Dining is good. Public onsen is not open air. However you can pay to book your private one. Parking is not very convenient. Staff helps to park faraway so will need to request the key and car ahead of time.

In such a beautiful area, I will definitely come back on my next trip! I loved everything.
-
Cannot beat the service and views Facility definitely showed its age, but it wasn’t a huge negative

The dinner, onsen and futon experience was wonderful. Staff was really welcoming and friendly. The balcony was dirty. It was difficult to find the place, only a small sign for the hotel in the bushes. I hoped for a privet onsen (let it be really small) for the price I paid.

We couldn’t choose a better place to relax after 5 busy days in Tokyo. The location was easily connected to the bus stop which took us both to Lake Ashi and the Open Air Museum. We were impressed by the staff, everyone was extremely kind and helpful. Fantastic food experience. Everything on a high level - will be back next time when we’re in Japan! We loved everything and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Amazing location, atmosphere, authenticity, cleanliness and polite staff. N/A

The ryokan was very clean and authentic, the Japanese-style dining was a nice experience, area around is green and picturesque. The bus stop is located just near the hotel, so you can take a round bus and explore Hakone.
-
Booking.com could have been clearer that the ryokan does not normally accept solo travellers so I ended up paying the same rate as for two people.

The food was incredible, restaraunt quality, if not better. Stayed 3 days and got incredible variety. The rooms were super comfortable and warm. Staff were incredibly friendly and hard working. Will be back

Food was traditional Japanese so it was interesting to try it. It was also very interesting to stay in Japanese room and sleep on a futon and wear traditional Japanese clothes. We loved the traditional onsen. The bus stop was right in front of the hotel so it was convenient to get places. Since mostly Japanese were there, much of the signage was in Japanese. We weren't told that the onsen would be closed for cleaning in the morning and went there. I went into the women's onsen and there was a man cleaning but there was no closed sign in front of the entrance.

Beautiful location

The hotel is simply beautiful! The rooms are cozy, and we loved the traditional Japanese experience. The dinner is INCREDIBLE! Have no words enough to praise it! Breakfeast if VERY traditional, which means you are going to eat fish, soup, and tofu in the morning. Maybe amazing for some, but for us it was a bit too much... But we understand that it is part of the experience, but not our favorite. However, a point down was the lack of help during our check-out. It was a rainy day, and we were with our 6 yo daughter, so we decided it would be better to take a taxi from the ryokan to the station. We asked the front desk for some help, since Uber was taking a long time. Their answer: we cannot help, no taxis are running at this time (it was around 9 am), only in the afternoon, you need to go down at take the bus. In the rain, with no umbrella (and no support offered at all...). For our surprise, when waiting the bus outside, we saw not one, but several taxi passing by...

+ Great place to be immersed in nature. + Incredibly comfortable stay. + Great value for money. + Easy transportation from Hakone-Yumoto Station. + The food was phenomenal, dinner and breakfast. If you want a traditional spread of local and national Japanese delicacies, don't miss this. Nothing I don't like, but have two points to consider for what it means to stay in a traditional ryokan: - The onsen area is simple. There are no multiples pools or massage facilities inside. Check the images carefully. It's what you get. - Your room will be prepared and arranged by employees when you are in the restaurant area. Be mindful.

Love that the location was just outside the bus stop. The room was very nice and included all the amenities we needed. Dinner was plentiful and beautifully presented and breakfast was great. Love that we were able to also buy a very good cup of coffee at the lobby to get our caffeine fix for the day. We really enjoyed our stay there and would recommend to friends. Wish there was a mat or couch area for us to lay down and rest before dinner in the room. Beds are made while we were at dinner so there wasn’t a place to lay down before. We sat on the chairs which was comfortable but wasn’t able to lay down for a bit.

The rooms smelled a bit musty or like rice. I'm not sure if that's intentional or not.
-
The rooms were beautiful and the gardens surrounding were even moreso! Breakfast was delicious. The staff is so helpful with explaining what to do for us foreigners. Nothing could have made it better. I'll be back!

Food and service were very good. Accommodations were lovely. The hallway had a musty smell. Also the elevator closing mechanism was crazy aggressive and smushed me.
-
The hot springs were incredible and the staff went above and beyond. Perfect for a quiet, restorative getaway.

Property was beautiful! We wish we couldve stayed longer!

Really good garden and dinner. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Traditional Japanese experience in a ryokan In general it was a great experience but only breakfast (It was a bit too much Japanese if you prefer more Western breakfast)
