The property was good and our room had a great view. The only downside was the extremely long and slow line to check in.

Only the breakfast is good

Staff was not helpful. Uninformed. Hallways were never vacuumed in 5 days. Dog barking in the next room for my entire stay. I will never stay in this chain of hotels again

It was a great stay. Just wish they kept the elevators and rooms a little cleaner. Our sink in our room needs to be fixed as you could tell it is detaching from the counter. The shower was not very well cleaned. You can tell there is no detail to cleaning. Other than that everything else was great including the breakfast. Parking was a little pricey and it is first come first serve so if you don't get parking you have to park about 4 blocks away in another parking lot.

That being said, the property was grossly underprepared for the storm and its consequences. As the rest of Kuhio Street's hotels got their power back on, we were stuck sitting in the dark...literally. AS I talked to some of the staff, they indicated that they have been trying to tell corporate about this issue for a decade! My room was on the 41st floor, much too far to climb. And even if I did, there was no power restored to the rooms anyway. As the only IGH property on the island of Oahu, there was no ability to start pushing guests to other properties that were back to operating. Additionally, you have no reciprocal relationship with any other companies, so we were all stuck. When I got back to the hotel around 10 p.m. on Sunday the 16th, there were approximately 200 people milling about the lobby wondering what to do. There was no guidance from the employees beyond, "we're working on it." Around midnight, they were able to restore the power to the lower elevator bank, which would have still left me 17 stories short of my floor. There were about 50 of us who sprawled uncomfortably against chairs, walls, planters, and whatever we could find in the lobby

The property was in a good location easy access to buses and local shops for snacks. Breakfast was provided but very limited as a coeliac as no gluten free cereal or toaster was availlable The cooked breakfast did have some gluten free but was limited and repetitive. The weather turned when we stayed and the power went out for about 18hours which meant no lifts and no lights in the rooms. These would be things I will consider if I visit Hawaii again.

The storm knocked out the power from 8.30am Sun 16th Aug till 1.35am Mon 17th Aug. There were 6 lifts in the hotel 3 that went from the lobby to 25th and 3 lifts that went from the lobby 2 & 3 floor then 26th floor to 44th floor. When we had the blackout at 8.30am we just got out of the lift on 35th floor & the remainder of the people in the lift were atuck for 1.5 hours. Fire brigade were called to get them out of the lift. With only 1 lift working on each side we managed to get back down to the lobby. People were standing around everywhere. Nobody knew what was going on except for the power outage. Management did not make any announcements as to what was happening. Later that day power still out and the last lift went out on the 2nd floor. My family managed to get out just as it shut down. Management didn't know that the lift had finally stopped. People were getting anoyed that they hadnt been told what was going on. A note or a sign would have helped people to understand what was happening & people would have been a little more patient. We were finally told at about 9.30pm that they were getting a new generator after several people were getting annoyed with the front desk. We walked up to our room on 35th floor & waited but no announcements. Power came back on 1.35am. I know that the situation could not have been helped but people didn't know if they had to evacuate. Communication is the key.

Breakfast is good

We stayed at this hotel during the hurricane. I felt like the hotel was not prepared for the situation. All three elevators went out of service. Since our room was on the 35th floor, this meant quite a hike for us 74 year olds.

I loved it here. Breakfast was great, you could sit on the patio with the bamboo trees and birds while you eat. Fresh local pineapple juice for breakfast, Walking distance to beach and friendly happy staff.

Clean room, great service, great spot
-
Hotel is centered in a great walkable area. Free breakfast, small sized room but adequate for 1 individual. Elevators took awhile to go up and down
-
Rooms were smaller than expected but overall good for our family of 4. The breakfast helped with our little ones who have to eat as soon as they wake up. Staff were generous and helpful.
