Business-friendly

I arrived after midnight and nobody open the door, they said they have someone 24 hrs, but nobody was there, I called and I can hear the phone ringing from outside, I had to stay with a friend one of the nights and never offered a refund or response from my complaint

Nice and quiet. Parking was a big problem for use, since it was in the basement and long walk to room. Very challenging for elderly with health challenges. Desk staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Very clean room me like

We checked in after a long day of moving my daughter in. There was no parking. The loading zone was filled and had to wait: there’s no bellman or help outside. After checking in we were instructed to the parking garage around the corner

The room was fine, it's size was good and it was bright. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioning was more then up to the task and kept the room a good temperature. The location was good, close to campus (University of Iowa) and close to a ton of bars and restaurants. We were on the fifth floor and we felt like we were in a bunker. The hall was narrow, very sterile. The hall hadn't been vacuumed in a while and there were dust bunnies on the lower baseboard. The real big negative for us was when we returned to our room from being out all day Saturday, moving our grand daughter into the U of I, our room door was open and our personal property exposed to whoever. I called the front desk and they said they'd make a note. Cleaning staff left kleenexes on the bath room floor and the soap dispenser in the shower was empty. At morning breakast the occasional staff had a hard time keeping up with food use. Food stations would be empty and it took an extended time to get replacements. It seemed like they were trying to run the hotel on a limited staff and staff were struggling. There are too many hotel options in Iowa city we will not return to this Hyatt Place again.

Great location. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Room was nice.

Facilities were ok- common areas were well maintained but my room had lumpy carpet that needed to be replaced. Parking garage was full so I had to walk in the rain for 4 blocks at night by myself. Parking is a basic expectation for a hotel in a car-dependent location like Iowa City. The property needs to secure more spots in the shared garage. The staff was not helpful. I will not stay at this property again.

The food was cold and the staff you could tell did not want to be bothered At check in the guy behind the counter could not even take the time to take out his ear buds so he could hear us
-
All the hallways smelled like sewer. The parking costs are lot for dingy, unsafe space. Bed was comfortable but no microwave and glasses were glass and unsanitary. Hard to find a spot to even check in. Very shallow pool that was chilly .Would not recommend and definitely not up to a Hyatt standard.

Works!

Everything was fine for our stay. The only negative is the smell. The entire lobby smells of sewer gas. The parking garage and the elevators smell like sewer gas. I’m glad we had a 11th floor room. It was very unpleasant to check in smelling that. Other people on the elevator were also commenting on the smell.

Exceptional

Clean and comfortable hotel. Near lots of dining and entertainment options. The pool is small but it was great for our younger children.

Great property.
