Clean and convenient facilities and friendly and cordial staff Nothing very much

The layout. A lot of people packed into one room, the women's dormitory is not a separate room it's just a corner of a larger room. It's extremely loud at night, with people packing luggage and also starting very early in the morning. There's no separate space for luggage so people with no choice to do it where everyone else is sleeping.

The only thing that I would change about my stay is that I think the AC should've been more active, especially for it being 80*F+ and like a billion percent humidity outside. Once someone finally turned it on, it was a game changer for the stay and I have zero other complaints other than that it should be utilized more.

For an affordable hostel, it’s probably the best and most comfortable one I’ve ever stayed at. Not only was the staff super kind and helpful, the facilities were all new, very clean and convenient. The cute little nooks are super spacious and private, and it’s one of the only places where I’ve been able to comfortably maneuver around in such little space. Lock boxes add for extra comfort, and they allow you to leave your luggage even after check out for one final day of exploring There’s also tons of helpful restaurant and activity information on the walls, and the hostel offers 500yen snorkel set, bicycles, and scooters(if you have a Japanese license) for the whole day! We took our kits to Yonehara beach and saw tons of magical tropical fish~ No complaints! Highly recommend this place~ Note: Be aware that it’s 3 flights of stairs to get up to this hostel (just in case you are traveling with someone that this might be an issue for!) :)

5min walk from Ishigaki ferry and bus terminal, Hive has ideal location for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Clean and well managed property together with friendly and cordial staff made my trip to Ishigaki pleasant and comfortable. Strongly recommended. It could be a little noisy at night.

Great Staff, Great Value, Great location. only reservation is PLYWOOD EMISSION as during my stay, i heard a lot of people coughing. i started a little coughing on day 3. When i started coughing, i turn on the fan in my tiny area full blast until i cheeked out. PLYWOOD can be dangerous when chemicals are released to cause breathing issues. i would not go again because of plywood in interior of hostel. otherwise i enjoyed my stay. A lot of PLYWOOD in the interior of hostel that can cause health issues.

The location is around the corner from the bus terminal and the port terminal in Ishigaki and the facilities were quite clean. Messages online were responded to rather quickly which was nice! The kitchen and shared space is clean and well air conditioned. Also there is a rooftop area where you can dry your clothes after your wash them - or you can use the drying machine. It was quite hot. The main room with all of the beds only has one big AC unit and pipes are connected to it to go to various parts of the room. I woke up every night due to the heat. I think if you stay here in winter it's fine, but in my option it is not a comfortable temperature to sleep at unless you like to be warm before sleeping. I think there needs to be at least another ac unit. Also there is an izakaya next door that has their trash in front on the stairwell to the hostel. To put it frankly, it smells like hot garbage so I had to hold my breath going up the stairs. It isn't the hostel's fault but.. it was unpleasant.

Location is good, very close to downtown area and port. Bedroom is quite spacious (consider it a dormitory style) and has small hanging table for us to place our stuff. We don't have heavy luggage so we're ok with walking to the 3rd floor. But the entrance is a bit hard to find like other review said. Only one toilet and bathroom for male and female each so you need to wait for your turn. If you're unlucky, it's quite long time to wait when you already want to sleep. No pajamas provide. Small towel, new towel, toothbrush, razor can be bought with some fee.

The bed was nice and private, with my own outlet and fan, with enough space outside my bed where I could leave my backpack without bothering the other guests. The locker space was also very large so it was easy to store items. There's a washing machine and the toilets and showers were very clean! There's a roof deck to dry clothes as well so you don't need to use the dryer. The staff especially Kumi were so kind and chatty! And they even helped me get some bandaids and alcohol swabs when I injured myself while swimming.☺️ I think it would be great if the property installed some lights by the stairs and entrance to the property since its kind of hard to see at night and could be a bit difficult for some people.

The AC didn't reach my bed. There was a fan which was helpful.

The location was convenient, and the common areas looked nice. The manager was polite and refunded me when I raised an issue. I woke up with multiple bites consistent with bed bugs and decided to leave early. Although the manager apologized, he did not fully acknowledge the problem. I am unsure how seriously the hygiene issue will be addressed. It caused me a lot of stress and inconvenience.

Very clean nice bathroom nice common area really nice that it had a rooftop area that I enjoyed ver much The “hives” room areas are very neat and spacious but if you are a light sleeper and you get disrespectful guests you might wake up

Excellent location close to the port and main shopping street. Clean and comfy beds and facilities. Friendly staff too! It is a little hard to find though, so make sure to follow their directions. Not a problem for me, but it's on the third floor with no elevator access.

The kitchen is well equipped and organized and the toilets were clean. The staff was proactive and friendly. The space is very small and it is hard to manage your luggage. Also the sink area is very unpractical with the tilted shelf. I was happy to stay one night but for a longer stay it might be quite uncomfortable. The alley where the entrance is located has a lot of trash bins.
