The Palms Oceanfront Hotel

Mixed feelings on this hotel. Excellent location with a great beach and pool at your disposal. The room was just very dated and dirty. Clean bathroom and bedding but the baseboards where covered in thick dust and the room should have been repainted years ago.

We had a rough start. Parking is a problem since the hotel has very few spots. You have to go into a municipal lot and pay ($50 for Friday to Sunday). I was idling outside while my wife tried to figure out parking from the clerk. That transaction went so badly my wife came out crying in frustration. She felt the clerk was very rude to her. (This is not a normal situation for us. In 31 years of marriage, my wife has never cried at a customer service interaction.). Once we found parking (not easy) and brought out bags up, our room was stifling hot even though the unit was set at 61 and going as hard as it could. It turned out our partial view balcony glass door absolutely would not shut. I went down to report it and was told maintenance would come. After a while, I figured out that wasn't going to happen any time soon. I went back down and asked for another room. They gave us an interior room (a downgrade) with no offer of any refund. In addition to all this, the toilet seat was broken. Over all, I felt I should try to stick to the big hotel brands. The proximity to the beach is most of the good score here. The downgraded room was generally acceptable. Not amazing for over $300 a night.

My room was nice and clean and close to pool and ice machine which was nice. Location to windjammer and easy access to beach. Parking

It would be nice if they had a better beach view walking to the beach instead of two old fashioned picnic tables. The pool is nice but smells of grease due to the restaurant next door. Not sure they can do anything about that. Needs something me kind of deck fir people to sit outside by ocean.

Clean room, clean bed to sleep on. Quiet with the interior room we had. I love the quick access to the beach and the short walk to the IOP Park for the kids. Breakfast was more grab an go option but did have pancakes. I would have liked more hot breakfast options at the hotel but there were additional breakfast options at the restaurants around. We enjoyed our stay!

Hotel should never have rented this room (#112). There was an obvious leak from upstairs, the paint on walls in the bathroom was wrinkled and peeling off. There wasn't any water on the floor when we first got into the room, but when we came back that evening there was so much water on the bathroom floor and the wall was saturated and spongy. The air conditioner makes so much noise, Bed was soft and lumpy. Bathmat towel was so dirty. Don't know how this hotel got such a good rating.

It’s good! On the beach!

Overall, not a bad experience. Easy beach access and very close to food, shops, etc. ice machine and water fill stations were awesome. However, for the price, it was not really up to par. The room was sorely in need of a true renovation. The floor felt dirty when we first got there. A lot of the plumbing was loose. Needed a good patch and paint job on almost everything (walls, baseboards, etc). The bathroom was so tiny you couldn't turn around in it unless the door was shut. We saw several insects (spiders and water bugs). No parking on site really (just a couple of spots). The continental breakfast was just bagels, fruit, cereal, and instant pancake machine. They only had like two luggage carts so had to lug our own stuff. Overall, middle ground experience.
