There is nothing in this hotel one can like, pathetic staff I stayed in the room for 4 days, kep asking for an extra pillow they did not even give that for 4 days, FYNA you dont get water, either you buy it from at 4x the price or stay without water as you cannot bring anything from outside. The cleaning staff enters the room without checking or anything, I was in the room and she entered without knocking or checking bear in mind I did not put on amy board to clean the room or anything. The hotel was almost empty I requested for 1 hour late checkout, initially the said no afterwards they agreed a day before the departure and at the day of departure another guy comes and says no you leave now we cannot give you we did not say sich thing picked up the luggage themselves at exactly 12PM and ask us to leave the room.

Hotel has a character!!! It is a unique, local vibe instead of a plan, booting rooms. It build like a custom home versus of standard apartments. It is located in historical area, walking distance to Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Basilica Cistern. In addition, it is a very close walk to tramway station to get to anywhere practically in 10-15 minutes. We walked to Grand Bazar and it was. A pleasant not too long walk. There is nothing we didn’t like in this hotel. Planning to stay there again!!!!

The hotel is the historic Sultan Ahmet area, and just an easy if slightly uphill 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque and Haggai Sophia and a bit further on is the Topkapi Palace and the Cistern. Its also walkable to the Istanbul Archeological Museum. (I managed them all at 67 without issue despite a crook knee!). There is a small market/souk between the hotel and the square where the Blue Mosque etc is located. It is a pensione style hotel. The breakfast buffet is served on the lower ground floor as had a good selection of western and Turkish foods. We did not eat in the separately operated rooftop restaurant but a friend did and said it was satisfactory. Staff were very friendly and helpful with bags and arranging laundry, including giving instructions about no scented laundry products (as I have allergies). The hotel stored two large bags for us free of charge for when we made a 10 day trip to Athens and Cairo, before returning to travel home. (That service was offered as we were returning to the hotel.) It was overall very good value. There were some very pleasant restaurants within 15 metres including Rainbow Fish and Meat restaurant and dubb Ethnic Restauran. and the Rooftop restaurant in the Amiral Palace hotel. a minute's walk way was an elegant experience. The traffic in Istanbul can be horrific. On the waters edges which is walkable but downhill is a train station that will take you to other parts of the city. The area on front the crise terminal which is on the eastern side of the inlet that divides the European side of the city has some modern shops and an excellent contemporary art museum. We were twice directed to booking a hotel airport transfer (paying the hotel in cash). The first was an ordinary taxi and the driver asked how much we had paid the hotel . We booked a car to meet our flight from Cairo to go to the hotel through Bookings.com and the cost was somewhat cheaper. The air-conditioning unit never seemed to lower the temperature, but was not strictly needed by us as we had mild weather and you could open a window. The toilet had not been set level on the floor and seat would slide off to one side significantly, which was a bit disconcerting the first couple of times!

Location is amazing and so peaceful even though all the sights and sounds of Istanbul are just a few minutes walk away. The staff were an absolute highlight. The breakfast was incredible and a real joy to enjoy traditional Turkish style breakfast. Sadly, I can't recall all the names but everybody was so helpful with check-in, help with taxis, tramd and loads.of local information. Merve on reception was simply brilliant and really went above and beyond to help all the Villa fans who had checked in for the football. Such a kind and considerate person with a fabulous sense of humor and is a real credit to the hotel. Sahmet and Elif(?) helped us with charging phones/broken phones. These folks really went above and beyond to make our stay brilliant. Even posing for photos and really embracing the excitement of the football game. Nothing. Everything was absolutely perfect and it is rare you can say that about a hotel. I stayed in January so obviously came back as my previous stay was also brilliant, and I recommended the hotel to a number of fellow Aston Villa supporters.

We had a very pleasant stay here. Location is just perfect, just a few minutes from Hagia Sophia, staff was helpful and very welcoming, especially administrator Merve and a restaurant’s staff (by the way, breakfast was also very good, a lot of options and with a great selection of fresh vegetables and sweets). Overall, very nice choice if you want to stay in the European part of Istanbul.

The hotel is located very near some of the attractions in sultanahmet, near the tram and a lot of restaurants. The only setback was that most of the establishment near the area is a but pricy - probably because it is a "tourist" area. Nonetheless it was a good place, be ready to walk uphill lol coz the roads to the attractions and the tram has a lot of uphill / downhill walking (around 10-15 mins max). The staff in the hotel are very friendly, there was this young lady, not sure if I remember the name right, Laura / Lara who is always smiling to greet the guest. My sister enjoyed the breakfast and the view from the restaurant at the top floor. :)

We liked view from our room, it was beautiful! The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Their breakfast options were kinda bland. They don’t have an elevator (after exploring the city all day..it’s hard going up those stairs).

Excellent location and super helpful staff.

The location is great. Breakfast was very good with a lot of choices. We were disappointed that we were told we would not be able to store a bag at the hotel for a week while we traveled around the country even though luggage storage was listed on the Booking.com site as a hotel amenity. We had to cancel our return booking and move to an alternate hotel that was able to accommodate our storage needs. I’m sorry that the hotel was not very helpful to us in dealing with this situation.

Lovely building - attractive with nice courtyard. Comfortable room. Lovely quiet location but so central. Nothing

The hotel staff was very kind to us when we arrived late in the evening. They gave us some advice on what to do around and how to go around. Cleanliness was ok, the room had a bit of an "old smell", but after you're in it, you eventually get used to it. That might be due to some old-style pillows. Breakfast was included but we were so tired to have it, even tho the staff was nice enough to offer us. Location is great if you're visiting the old town and the Mosques. If you're going further down, I recommend taking a taxi. Have them start the meter straight away when you get into the car. Overall, our stay at Avicenna was very pleasant and met our expectations. Little bit of "old smell" in the room.

Very friendly and helpful staff, substantial breakfast and great location for the historic centre.

Baris and crew were very helpful. We were a group of 7 and were completely accommodated. We loved that our rooms were in the mazes off the main hotel. The garden area is breezy and lovely. All ACs worked well and hard - hugely important after a wonderful, hot day exploring Istanbul. Excellent location. Everything is walking distance with great restaurants and bars nearby. Avicenna has a lovely rooftop bar, as well. Great place for an afternoon happy hour. Thanks, Baris and team!

Nice spacious room, great location near all the most important attractions! Staff was super nice with especial reference to Mehmet, a very smart, polite and attentive bellboy and Tea, a very accommodating cleaning lady with a warm smile! Highly recommended!

Fantastic location, amazing staff, in a few days you feel practically at home

  • Engine customer May 2025

Location was wonderful walking distance to a lot of attractions and the T1 train. staff was very nice and responsive . The beds and pillows were a bit firm and not very comfortable. While the restaurant on the 3rd floor offers a fantastic view, breakfast is actually served on the lowest floor, which can be a little misleading based on the photos. The room felt small—I had booked a superior room but initially thought it was a basic one. Fortunately, the staff kindly showed me other room types, and I realized I did receive the correct category (the others were even smaller). So again, the photos might set higher expectations than reality. That said, the staff were incredibly helpful and responsive—especially Nejdet—which made a big difference. Overall, I was happy with the stay and would consider booking again if I return to Istanbul.
