The location is fantastic and the staff was very friendly and welcoming

We had wonderful time at the Optimist. The entire staff was wonderful, Muhammed (Mumy the owner who is also "The Optimist"), Asia, the brother of Mumy and the other two girls were so nice and accommodating - friendly, chatty and helpful. They fed us beautiful breakfast with coffee and apple tea. My friend and I were in a bliss from the atmosphere of the hotel, location and the city. We liked the most the authenticity of the hotel, we wanted a local "mom and pap" type of establishment and this is what "the Optimist" was. The sheets and towels were clean, the mattresses were very comfy and we had an AC and good bathroom. The hotel is facing the Blue Mosque, first line on the square, and has a cute Turkish bar on the first floor that serves drinks and food. We loved everything. I do not think that we had ironing table and hair dryer, but I am sure that the staff would have provided to us if we would have asked.

Only location Facilities
-
Excellent hospitality, welcoming drink and pastry, good breakfast and wonderful views from the top floor. Just take in consideration Floor 4 (highest) has a glass door in the bathroom Tight stairs and no elevator, but charming in its way
-
There is no elevator and carrying bags up the narrow stairs was a struggle. TV did not work as well.

Location was amazing. Staff was amazing. Room was clean. Towels and bed were nice and soft. Food in the restaurant was delicious as well. Nothing

The suite itself was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, providing everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The owner was incredibly hospitable and helpful — a true optimist who genuinely cared about our comfort and made us feel right at home. His warmth and attentiveness set the tone for the whole stay. Breakfast was served at the café located at the entrance of the hotel with excellent service that stood out from what you typically find in other hotels. This hotel is a hidden gem, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking comfort, warm hospitality, and a perfect view in one of the most iconic areas of Istanbul.

The location is perfect - it’s right in the middle of Sultanahmet Square - which is the heart of Istanbul. If it’s your first visit and you are going to see Hagia Sopia, Topkapi Palace and Blue mosque - you will be there in less than 5 minutes walk away. I stayed at double/twin room. The property itself is peaceful, clean and beautiful. The room has exceptional lighting - Turkish lamps and many mirrors. There was a wardrobe with built-in organizer and hangers. also, there were other storage spaces. The bathroom was clean - there was a shower gel, a shampoo and a soap. We were provided with clean towels. There was a hairdryer and an iron. It was a little cold and staff turned on the heat in the building without asking and I appreciated that. We had breakfast every morning there and it was delicious! The staff - especially the host - are very friendly and helpful!

Optimist is just optimist! Everything involved in a really good mood; the staff, the view, the location.. For sure an experience and place you have to live!!

Great location, great rooms with traditional vibes, good breakfast and nice cafe. Nice staff, will visit again

Location was good. Since breakfast was included, it was a good deal compared to the cost of eating same food outside. Hygiene level in the cafe was bad with dogs(that too dirty ones) and cats running around and their fur all over the place(the receptionist doesn’t seem to care)! Dog was sniffing food left to be served!! The receptionist was singing, shouting and playing music until till after midnight and hence making it difficult to sleep! The bed was too old probably as the middle of the bed was like a sunken hole. Shower door was broken and no soap tray.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, overlooking the Blue Mosque and everything around is close. Absolutely perfect! Great breakfast in the morning, soup, tea. My husband and I were here for 3 days and we really enjoyed it! It was snowing, it was cold, it was still raining, but the room was warm. The heating always brought us together after day trips. Thank you Mr. Kudret for a great stay! We were here for 3 days and were thrilled.

The reason for giving this place a 7 is because of the politeness of the owner who we came across on our last day. Worst service by the staff (except the girl), the chubby guy at the hotel started banging on our door at 19:00 hrs shouting to make our crying son quiet who was not feeling well and thus crying. Whereas, we were disturbed daily by the loud music he was playing even around 23:00 hrs. Apart from playing loud the guy was either smoking all the time just outside the hotel door with all the smoke coming inside or bossing around on the poor girl working. This guy is full of bad energy, I hope the owner puts things in order if he wants his hotel to be not ruined by this guy.

The location and the price, very close to the most important places to know The toilet and room wasn’t that cleaned

I love the staff and location. Spiral Stairs

It has fantastic location and the view from the room is unbeatable. It is really a place that you won't be disappointed if you book. The absence of the lift but the room itself is perfect. The shower room gets stuck and the hot water doesn't get to the tap easily.
