Kalinga Hotel

Staff was great. Location was exactly as expected near the train station. Clean and neat. Good sized rooms. Very comfortable bed. The smell in the room was incredibly overbearing. Like they used some kind of perfumy air freshener and dumped the entire bottle into the Air Con. It was so bad that I actually opened the balcony door to allow the not-exactly-fresh external air into the room to make it breatheable. I cannot understate how overpowering this smell was. And we could not find a source for it.

Excellent location right next to the train station. Very helpful staff who facilitated our early check out at 4am. Also a good location for travelling into the centre of the old city.

The manager upgraded our rooms without us requesting him and always had a huge smile on his face!!

Very neat and clean property with a restaurant offering non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes .It is also near to the railway station which is very good for tourists coming by train.

Got multiple scam messages for this stay, some data leak with hotel

Hotel is very clean and great value for money. A on house restaurant and Landry facility was great. I was bombarded with multiple WhatsApp messages from fake companies threatening to cancel my hotel reservation unless i clicked on link on their WhatsApp messages to confirm my booking. Since the business profile these entities on WhatsApp that you can see clicking on the top left icons had nothing to do with hotel kalinga, i knew they were fake. The hotel confirmed that many other travelers have reported similar issue. My messages to the Hotel on this issue via this platform confirmed that by reservation was indeed confirmed. But the question arise as to how my reservation of this hotel via this platform was exposed to so many scammers. My emails to this platform and messages didn’t elicit any response which speaks poorly of this platform. I will be included to this platform even less as i suspect this platform has cyber security vulnerabilities and is not customer focused and doesn’t care about customer complaints.

Fab location, staff were mostly excellent. Great food! Wi-Fi didn’t work, fridge had mould, floor in room dirty. We didn’t complain as we didn’t stay for long but I’m sure the managers would have dealt with it.

Exceptional

The hotel’s location was incredibly convenient — just a short walk from the train station and only a quick taxi ride from the airport, making arrivals and departures a breeze. It was close to all the major tourist attractions, yet far enough from the old town to enjoy a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere. The rooms were impressively spacious, providing plenty of room to unwind after a day of exploring. Plus, the laundry service was fast and surprisingly affordable, making it easy to refresh your wardrobe during longer stays. While the hotel had its perks, there were a few disappointing aspects of our stay. The Wi-Fi speed was mediocre at best (around 8 Mbps), which made video calls for work frustratingly unreliable. The in-room fridge didn’t work at all, and the bathroom was extremely outdated — to the point that we chose not to use the shower. Worse yet, the toilet seat was completely broken, which really impacted our comfort. The staff were friendly enough for simple requests, but when we needed help resolving a billing issue with a previous hotel, they flat-out refused to assist, which left us feeling a bit stranded.

Good Location close to train station. Room has terrible odor. Window in my room did not close and was open to service room, did not feel safe. Not to mention the noise and heat. Bathroom was in terrible condition. When you shower it floods the whole bathroom. Air conditioner smells of mold. Cigarette burn on leather couch. Extremely limited breakfast menu. No cold milk available. Staff not welcoming and unkind.

I stayed in room 304 - The real added value of this hotel is the staff. They were all very professional, kind and thoughtful. When I said there were things wrong, they immediately took action to try to give me another room. The restaurant is excellent. Fast and impeccable service. The menu is very extensive - The wifi was stable and fast - The pillows were slim and very confortable - The room was full of natural light - Unfortunately the hotel needs to be modernised - The rooms with the small balcony, which is small and not usable as the balconies are covered with a net to keep pigeons out, overlook the main road, which is very noisy and dusty. Cars, tuck tuks, scooters, buses, ring at any time of the day or night, making sleep very difficult. The rooms facing the left side have no window, and it feels like sleeping in a tomb. The rooms on the right side overlook a courtyard where a furnace is lit, which gives off strong odors and very thick black smoke. Therefore the window cannot be opened. I must also point out that the shower should be upgraded - The window curtains do not block the light well and very early in the morning the room is too bright.
