    A unique stay indeed.

The location is great. The price was right. The hotel is old but well maintained. We chose a room with a private bath. The room was so small, the bed was full sized (I’m used to a king), the mattress hard ( I like super soft), the pillows very full (I like thin). Our room was 208 in the back. We did not hear bar noise, but we heard the stairs creak every time someone went up to the third floor.

I don't believe there is parking, unless theres no time limit on curb parking. I came in by plane, so no car & I didn't ask. Huge cruise ships park just a few blocks away so sometimes there's lots of paople. I love the turn of the century antique decoration and atmosphere. I loved it enough to walk up 1 or 2 flights of stairs, but I discovered this trip that I'm too old to do that again. No elevator. The street level is home to a large turn-of-the- century saloon that will hold a good size crowd. There's live music every night. I especially liked the Thur night open mike. Staff and customers alike were friendly and pleasant to talk with. Room rates are inexpensive, but a draft beer in the bar was more than I expected. If you're fit, strong and appreciate the decor and antiques,

You cannot sleep at night with the bar music going to 4 am. You are hot in the summer and cannot open the window because they smoke right below your window. You are sharing the bath with 10 other rooms. I just would go to the Super 8

If you're in for a authentic Alaskan experience, but don't mind The rustic atmosphere and kind of funky rooms, this is a place for you. Definitely memorable, great bar downstairs helpful staff.

    Can be loud

The hotel staff wasn't much help, but the bartender in the bar was extremely helpful and shared some great food options which we were able to enjoy.

Our three months-ago booked en suite reservation was ignored. When I protested, I was told, “We’re fully booked.” (No reduction in price, either.) The rooms WERE small, remote for a tv didn’t work, and sink in room barely drained. Nope: it’s a period-piece hotel (since 1913), it’s a proper ‘feel’ to it, and a great downtown location, but it needs serious maintenance attention: You have been warned!

Room was clean, there is no ac or fan, but you can open a window. You need to pack light because you have to take bags up steep stairs. I liked we were around shops. And close to everything.

Old hotel with Alaska charm. But difficult steep stairs and antique furniture. Not terribly comfortable but interesting.

The room had seen better days. The bed was comfortable but the rest was in bad shape. The cobwebs in the corners above the beds were big enough to have their own history. There is a long flight of stairs that are uneven and difficult to drag luggage up to the rooms. Be aware of that fact. The evening front clerk provided inaccurate parking information so had to run the gauntlet of the streets and panhandlers to get back. It is a historic landmark but needs some love and a good cleaning.

An inexpensive stay in the heart of Juneau. You get what you pay for.

The Alaskan is showing it's age. I'm happy this place is here and operating to provide inexpensive accommodations to travelers. You get what you pay for. The rooms are clean but age and wear are evident. Most rooms have a shared bathroom and shower. On the busiest street in Juneau, a short walk to everything. The bar is a historic landmark loved by locals and tourists alike. It stays open late and often has loud live music. We stayed on the 3rd floor and could barely hear music.

It was just what I expected and wanted. Right in the heart of town, it's what you'd expect a saloon to be like

This hotel worked for what we needed, which was a quick overnight. Stay before our flight out. Because it is a bar as well as a hotel. The Music is extremely loud until about two A.M. on a Saturday night. And there is no AC if it happens to be a warm night in June. That being said, the beds were comfortable and we were grateful to find a place on short notice

    Definitely old school

We arrived in Juneau before checkin & it was nice they held our luggage while we explored town. However, the hotel has a lot to be desired. We knew the hotel was very old, however we felt they could have kept the rooms in much better shape: trim falling off, our shower door only closed if someone o/s of the shower pushed it really hard & the door still didn't close tight so got water all lover bathroom flooring (they gave us extra towels to keep the water soaked up), mattress bed terrible (soft/lumpy), chipped paint, tiny, tiny room, outlets in bathroom didn't work. Fortunately we were able to get a room with our own bathroom, otherwise you share bathrooms/showers. They did make our bed everyday but never emptied our garbage (we were there for 4 nights). They never touched the bathroom so didn't pick up used/wet towels, The toilet had mold ring along water line so I don't think it had been cleaned for awhile. Would visit the bar but would not stay at the hotel again.

Don’t be fooled: it IS an old, authentic property, with very small bedrooms, no elevator, no restaurant, and some rooms are not en suite: inquire ahead. But if you want ‘real’ this is for you. Period glass and furnishings help bring evoke the old days. There’s also an original Bar that adds flavor, and the judicious use of ‘meretricious red’ reminds sojourners of the Gold Rush days. Located in the heart of Historic Juneau, it’s well-situated to explore this under-rated travel destination city.

Located in the heart of town close to restaurants, bars and of course any excursions you may want to do
