Kagoshima Plaza Hotel Tenmonkan

It was easy to get to from Kagoshima Station and the ferry terminals are within walking distance. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a large selection of amenities in the lobby which was nice. They also served curry in the evening! We had a nice stay!

Definitely very small - single room will not hold more than one person and their belongings. But that is to be expected in Japan at this price point.

The bed

Eco-friendly awareness of allowing guests to take only what they needed from the lobby eg tooth brushes, ear plugs etc. Great to have the ‘free curry’ option in the evening. I loved the coffee bags, but I would’ve liked some little creams made available to go with the coffee.

Very nicely appointed room, very clean. Walls seemed a bit thin- could hear some noise.

The rooms are small and basic, but that's to be expected from a business hotel of this class and price. The neighborhood was a nightlife district, so visitors should expect a moderate amount of noise and activity in the area in the evenings.

Overall a pleasant stay. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Location for me was perfect. Very affordable price. Many toiletries and various amenities available for free in the lobby. They offer a free bowl of rice and curry in the evening from the restaurant connected next door. Self service for extra towels. Extra pillow options to choose from if you don’t like the one in the room. Coin laundry and dryers available. Mini fridge. Temp control in the room. Thank you. Sound proofing could be improved. While it wasn’t disturbing for me, I could still hear the guest in the next room coughing, flushing the toilet, slight TV noise, etc. Also the building is definitely older and looks and feels dated. The latter is more of an aesthetic critique, as everything was still clean and in working order.

You could choose a pillow of your desired softness. All the amenities to choose and pick by yourself in the lobby or at each floor. Small room.... Very small. Tokyo had bigger rooms.... I could hear water pouring from the next room, sometimes it bothered me to sleep.

Tenmonkan district is one of the more lively areas with a lot of restaurants, bars, little shopping streets etc. Though the hotel is located on the edge of the area you need not to worry about the noise level. Nearly nothing is coming through and a good night sleep is secured. The surroundings felt safe both at day and night times. The room was as described and expected, cleanliness was spot on and everything worked well. The bed was comfortable and there was enough space for clothes and a little fridge as well. Free ameneties like a variaty of teas and coffee were also provided. The staff is english speaking and very welcoming. Supermarkets and convininece stores are in walking distance. I would stay here again without a doubt. n/a

Nice location, staff were really friendly and free water was great They only had smoking room which smelt like old cigarettes. Room could have been a bit bigger too

Great amenities and free curry and rice

good location, near shops and restaurant, helpful staff, I'd definitely stay again. may be not convenient if you are using train

I could choose different pillows and they had a variety of pillows to choose from. The breakfast was very delicious. The hotel also had some coupons for you to use at local restaurants. Besides, they offered limited free curry after 7pm. I liked it so much that I stayed here twice.

The hotel is a bit dated and the bathroom is too small
